"Down home H-D dealer, the best people to do business with. Will help
you if you have trouble after warranty. Can't say enough about them good
place to shop and be around." - FW 02/01

"Charge MRSP but requires purchase of $2500 of
accessories plus some junk fees. Postage stamp sized dealership.
Limited amount of inventory." - SS 10/99
"I just bought a 2000 Sportster from East Coast Harley in
Dumfries, VA. They require $500 in accessories when you order a bike from
them, but the bike price is at MSRP. Elizabeth who works there was extremely nice and helpful.
The manager wasn't as helpful and seemed to be bothered that was I buying
only a $7,000 bike from him!! If you go there deal with Elizabeth, she's
great and was really helpful. My bike should be here in a few
months!!" - GR 10/99
"I ordered a 00' FXDS in May 99 (received Oct 99). They only
required a $1,000 deposit and the bike was sold at MSRP (plus, setup was
$235). There was no mention or requirement about any accessories.
Yes, it is a "postage-size" dealership, but I have visited
4 dealerships in the near vicinity, and their customer service is nothing
short of first class! This was my first HD. The staff answered all
my (newbie) questions and offered many suggestions to think about before I
decided on a model to order. Their patience and experience ended
with one final result... someone who loves his Harley." - MM 1/00
"I ordered a 00' FLHRCI ( first HD) in Feb. 99 and received it in
Aug. They required a $1,000 deposit and the bike was sold at MSRP.
Other dealers will take less down but won't commit to exactly what
you want. There was no requirement about accessories. It is a small
dealership, but I they talk to you instead of ignoring like other dealers
in the area. Their customer service is first class and Elizabeth who
works there knows her stuff and is super. The manager/owner has
always been and the service dept. (Jeff) seems very good." - TG

"Bought 2001 FXD Dyna Super Glide there. Paid MSRP. Staff there are
very nice, pleasant, and helpful. One Big Problem: a recent service visit
(warranty work) took 3 weeks!!! Took them 5 days just to get permission
from Harley to open up tranny to inspect. Once they got authorization,
took another 3 days til they even started! Been driving 25 years - never
had a car in the shop longer than a week. Not goin' back. What a shame.
Really liked the place til that happened." - JM 10/01
"These guys have bikes in stock, ready for immediate sale, but there is
a reason why - they sell for $1,000 - $2,000 over MSRP. If you ask about
prices, they give you an out the door price, but are reluctant to give you
a price break down. Their used bikes also seem to be priced a bit high."
- JF 11/02 "Recently took delivery of latest of 6 bikes that I have purchased here
over the years (old shop & new shop). Got a terrific deal (MSRP), plus
discount on accessories. Set up and add-ons to include stage II all done
professionally, and the service manager is ready to make anything right if
there's a problem." - BR 12/04"I purchased a leather jacket as a
Christmas gift for my friend. The sale price was $482.64. When he opened
his gift I saw a white noticeable spot on the back of the jacket. It
looked like it was in the leather. I took the jacket back to the
dealership w/receipt. They offered to reduce the jacket down a little
more and I said I wanted the jacket replaced, because it cost too much
money to be ruined before even getting to wear it. It's the principle of
spending that kind of money and not having it right. The salesgirl talked
to the owner back & forth until I was told that the jacket would be sent
out & replaced as they didn't have another one in stock. We were given a
receipt saying that's what they would do. After a couple of weeks, my
friend called down there and was told to come and pick the jacket up.
Well, it was the same jacket with the spot covered up with black marker
or something of that effect. It also looked like someone had tried to rub
the mark out before they painted over it. Also, there are line marks
below the spot looking like someone was testing a couple of different
colors to see which matched the best. My friend was not very happy at
all! He was told by the owner that he needs to take the jacket because it
was not going any further then that. When he asked why it wasn't replaced
like the receipt said it would be, he was told, "I'm the owner and I can
do what I want." She told him that she had cancelled the order out of the
system. He did not take the jacket with him and told her that he wanted to
talk to me first to see what I wanted to do. I called the store and
talked to the owner and she told me basically the same thing - to come and
get the jacket so that my friend could be using it, because it wasn't
going any further than this. Well, I was not a happy camper, because I
normally don't spend that kind of money on an item to wear, but it was for
a special guy in my life. I finally stopped in last week and picked up
the jacket. I didn't say anything to the girl, except that I came in to
pick up my friend's jacket. The salesgirl said that she was sorry it ended
this way. My friend and I have spent a great deal of money in the shop and
have always been treated very well by everyone. We also recommended a
friend of ours to buy his bike there, which he did in January. I feel
like I've been dealt a dirty blow and that I should have gotten a new
jacket or my money refunded." - JG 02/05 |

"Wouldn't discount for HOG membership. Bad sales manager attitude
towards friend's wife, while she was in to purchase several hundred bucks
of stuff. He nor I will do business with him in future." - SS

"Purchased a 2000 Fat Boy at MSRP + $305 setup. Dealership
runs a lottery each quarter for bikes. No mandatory extended
warranty or minimum parts, offers a 10% discount on parts after $500.
Great service from all employees. Visited several other HD dealers
in the area, all had extensive wait lists, or mandatory warranties or were
asking a premium of anywhere from $1,500 -$4,000 OVER MSRP." - DR

"has a great staff and a great attitude. They sell at MSRP, and
you have to go through a lottery to get the bike you want. I was number 58
out of 62 and got my second choice. When I had a minor problem in terms of
getting a call back about my loan, it was not only rectified, but Matt,
the Sales Manager, called me and apologized. That right there put Patriot
up a few notches on the ladder for me. I just picked up my brand new
FLSTC, and am loving every minute of it." - SK 4/00
"Looking for a dealer who treats you like a real person and who
strives to meet your needs at a fair price? Try Patriot H-D.
This is a first class operation. Everyone from the greeters to Bob,
the owner, are people you will enjoy meeting and doing business with.
Even Matt, the sales manager, treats you like you would hope to be
treated. Not only are the sales, service, parts, and clothing great,
WE SELL @ MSRP. For a great deals and service from great people see
Patriot Harley" - Patriot H-D
"Bought my 99 FXSTS there. Paid MSRP plus Setup, Delivery,
Tax, and Processing fee. Set up fee was about $300, Processing Fee
was $79. Totally a pleasant experience. No pressure to buy any
accessories or the extended warranty. Been there many times since
and they treat me real nice. Plus the give out free lunch on Saturdays
during the riding season." - JS 5/00
"Will not sell out of state." - RN 8/01
"If you're not a regular customer the parts department doesn't
have time for you. If you make the mistake of having your bike
worked on by them rest assured it won't be done right. They leave
axle bolts un-tightened, scratch paint and generally screw up your bike
worse than it was before you brought it in." - BB 8/01
"Just received my 2002 FXDWG from Patriot HD at MSRP, their service and
their attitude was excellent. Prices on accessories are at MSRP as well
and their inventory is impressive. I would highly recommend them for a new
bike, service or parts. They are great people to deal with." - BF 9/01
"I could not be more impressed with Patriot H-D. My fiancée decided to
buy me a bike as a wedding present. The Sales Manager worked with her to
arrange to have a demo bike with a white bow on it waiting for me the day
before the wedding. After the honeymoon (Jun 01) we went back in and
ordered a Road King Classic. Trey offered us several bikes available
between Aug and Dec 01. We picked a pearl white one scheduled for Aug and
took delivery on Aug 11. We paid MSRP." - MR 9/01
"I am very impressed with the business dealings of Patriot Harley. I
went in on December 9, 2001 to order a 2002 Heritage Springer for delivery
by spring. I was told the bike would be in by March, no later than April.
Surprise! Delivery is to be next week, the last week in February. Boy am I
happy. The sales office is very efficient and the accessory people are
more than competent and very friendly. Patriot sells their bikes at MSRP
and you receive a 10% discount for any accessories you order to be
installed at time of assembly." - KM 02/02
"I just purchased an FXSTI from Patriot H-D at MSRP + F&S. I ordered my
bike January 12 and it was delivered February 16. Everyone at the
dealership was extremely friendly and helpful. I live about 100 miles away
which is outside of their area. They don't typically sell bikes out of
their area, so I agreed to add some accessories and assured them that I'd
be coming back for service and they agreed to sell me the bike. All in all
it was a great experience." - JN 02/02
"Bought my first Harley ('02 Deuce) at Patriot, took delivery last
month. I was extremely impressed with everyone I dealt with in sales,
service, parts, business and accessories. As a first-timer, I bugged
everyone with lots of questions, but everyone was extremely helpful and
courteous. Bike was MSRP. I would highly recommend this dealership to
anyone! A great experience, even before I strapped on my new ride!" - RB
06/02
"Customer service varies. They sell most bikes at MSRP, but they may
add on accessories. I went with a friend who wanted to buy a V-Rod. They
will only sell them with all accessories installed - we were told that by
the sales person, "...I can't make any money selling them without adding
all the accessories so we won't sell them without..." Also, if you want a
V-Rod they require you to donate $3,000 to a charity of your choice just
for that pleasure. Other bikes seem to be no problem. I haven't had
problems with the parts department. The service department does okay
work, but not great. I don't remember what my bike was in for, but as a
"courtesy," they put it on the dyno and tuned the carburetor. Nice, but
they adjusted it to run so rich that my mileage dropped from 45 per gallon
to 30 and my plugs started to foul. They also put a major scratch in my
freshly painted tank and denied that it was them." - DE 06/02
"I've waited and been saving 20 years to get a Harley and wasn't sure
which one to buy. The salesman was very understanding and helpful with
selecting which bike would fit me best. I order a 2003 FXDWG at full
price, new pipes and the Stage I kit. The parts department salesman was
extremely helpful. The customer service I received from everybody was
excellent. Everyone I came into contact with displayed a very caring
attitude and understood I needed help being a first time buyer of a
Harley. My bike is due in around October. " - CC 07/02
"I contacted these guys in the middle of May looking for a FXST. They
had a
cancellation and were contacting several folks who had expressed an
interest
in this model. The first one with $1,500 got on the list. The FXSTI was
MSRP
and the salesman was very helpful. They only sell to the 703 area code
according to the salesman. I took delivery on the 26th of June and am
pleased
with the dealership and the bike. They were backed up for the first
service
(end of August) so I made an appointment with East Coast for the 9th of
July." - CS 08/02
"I'm very pleased with Patriot H-D. I picked up a new 2003 FLSTCI in
October 02 at MSRP (bike was on order for 4 months). I never felt
pressured once during the purchase process. The folks in both the parts
and service departments are terrific and extremely friendly. I highly
recommend anyone looking for a new H-D bike, accessories, or service in
the D.C. area to go to Patriot H-D." - SG 11/02
"I recently put a deposit on a 2003 Fatboy, black, fuel injected. Here
is the bottom line: 16280 MSRP, black 600 EFI; 275 factory
alarm; 350 dealer setup; 215 shipping; 536.37 sales tax; 35.50 dealer's
business license tax; 129 processing fee; 28.50 license fee (tags); 10
title fee; 30 run-flat/tire additive = $18489.37 Notes: The factory alarm
was not optional - this dealership orders ALL bikes with the alarm.; The
$30 run-flat in the tires was not optional - this dealership installs this
on ALL bikes." - RL 02/03
"KUDOS to the service department!....They went out of their way during
a busy Friday "booked" schedule to put me back on the road after my scoot
was towed in due to a lost battery terminal clip! They didn't even laugh
at how trivial the breakdown was! The ladies that work the sales
merchandise floor are not only ALL out gorgeous, but they are well versed
in customer service and expertise in the HD products they sell!" - DO

"I bought my first Harley from Patriot. They had the 2003 1200S I
wanted, in stock, for MSRP. This deal was done entirely over the phone,
since I was travelling over 500 miles one way to get it. My salesman knew
I had a long trip to make, and had everything ready before I arrived.
Total time in the dealership was under an hour. Even though it was an
out-of-state sale, there were no problems with the paperwork. The
salesman I had made the purchase painless. What we discussed on the phone
was exactly what I paid. If you're shopping for a bike in the Washington
DC area, or are willing to drive there, this is an excellent dealership
for purchasing a bike." - JV 04/03
"I ordered a Lava Red 04 FLHRCI from Patriot HD on 10/15/03. I took
delivery on 12/12/03. I paid MSRP (plus $275 for the factory alarm and
$30 for the run flat additive). Freight/handling was $600 ($250 shipping
and $350 dealer handling fee). There was a dealer's business license tax
of $36.90, processing fee of $129, $605.26 VA sales tax, and $38.50 for
tags and title. They gave me 10% off on all accessories. This is my
first bike and I did a lot of shopping around before I decided to go with
Patriot. These guys treated me very well from day 1. They had no
problems whatsoever ordering the bike and didn't try at all to steer me to
something they already had on the showroom floor. If you decide to go
with Patriot, you won't be dissatisfied." - DH 12/03
"I bought my VRSCR from them and had the 1000 mile service done there.
They covered missing screws under warranty. At 1800 miles I got a nail in
my tire and went to them to get it replaced. They did not have a tire in
stock and instead of making me wait days for them to get one they found a
nearby dealer that had one in stock and sent me there. I am so impressed
that they were willing to get me fixed up instead of making me wait so
they could have the business that they have a customer for life. I will
recommend them to everyone." - MD 09/05 |

"I am preparing for a major road trip and recently dropped my 99
FLSTC off for a 10K and re-jetting as well as to have a tech look into why
it was making some extra engine noise and running a bit warmer than she
used to. I just picked my bike up Friday after about two weeks in
the service department. The tech did a fantastic job and kept me
informed of anything he found while doing the servicing. He had no
problem with saving the damaged parts, showing me exactly what was wrong,
or explaining what he was doing and why. There were several problems
due to some less than quality work done by a mechanic I knew at another
shop (no reflection on that shop) which had to be corrected. After
all was said and done, the bike runs better than she ever has. I
have very good response time and excellent handling, tested by riding some
200 miles this past weekend. I also have no qualms about my
up-coming vacation or the six thousand miles it will cover. I would
recommend the techs and service department to anyone I know locally or
otherwise riding through. They have truly made an effort to turn
around and offer better service both in the showroom, parts counter and
service department." - DJ 8/01

H-D OF LYNCHBURG

"I bought my third HD a 2000 FXST from Lynchburg HD,
After looking everywhere in Virginia for the right bike at the right price
they came thru for Me. I got the bike and about $1200.00 worth of part's
not to mention the comfortable atmosphere I was in for very little over
MSRP. I highly recommend them to a first time buyer, as I often play dumb
on my first contact with a dealer to see where they fall in the honesty
test. I dealt with Frankie and have not met a better rep for HD yet."
- DL 1/00 "On December 14, 2001, Lynchburg HD delivered my new RoadKing to my
house, some 100 miles away. Back in late August, they found the exact
bike I wanted on their future shipment list. According to the MoCo,
it would be arriving late November/early December. So they reserved the
bike for me for a $500 deposit. They sold it at MSRP and a $350 setup
fee. The salesman was a delight to work with. I highly recommend
this dealership." - KS 12/01
"HD of Lynchburg provided the factory motor rebuild on my 97' FLHR.
When the motor came back the jugs looked horrible, like someone had taken
a grinder to some of the cooling fins, the MoCo sent new jugs pistons etc.
to replace, and Lynchburg HD did the work. the motor developed a leak
almost 18 months later. the service manager admitted the problem was due
to not installing the required O rings in the oil return passage and they
repaired the problem for no charge, however they also bent the heat shield
on the front pipe. I had to eat that $70.00, they have also in the past
put my tire on backwards, installed a heat shield on the rear pipe
incorrectly damaging the part and stripped the oil pan drain plug, all
items I have had to pay to repair. The service manager is super nice, and
honest but I think in the future I will take my bike to Waugh Enterprises.
After years of selling over MSRP they now sell at MSRP but hose folks on
setup charges and also require each bike to be ordered with the optional
alarm system." - MG 11/02

"I just purchased a 2001 Deuce from this dealer and was not happy
at all with the service I got. The day I picked the bike up it was not
cleaned and it had a 3" scratch in the middle of the rear fender and
the gas gauge was not working. I ended up fixing the gauge and the
scratch. I went back later and purchased a set of pipes and when I got
home with them and opened the box, there was someone's used stock pipes in
the box. I live 75 miles from this dealer and had to make another trip to
them days later to get the pipes. I'm not happy with them at all." -

"In May I stopped at Whitt's to check on some prices on used
Electra Glides to prepare for a loan from my credit union. The salesman
ask me if I was interested in buying new, instead of used. I said that I
didn't want to wait 6 month to get one. He showed me a bike that an
unfortunate, want'a'be owner had ordered but could not get financing. It
was a beautiful black 2001 Electra Glide Classic. It took only seconds to
decide to put a deposit down on this bike which I pickup 2 days later. (it
was about $800. over MSRP but no wait and the color I wanted) No
pressure, bike delved as soon as I showed up with the check. All in all a
great experience. I brought it in for its first checkup, when I picked it
up they told me that they had order me a new console for the tank. I
didn't ask for that and he told me it was free under warranty. The console
had peeled up the first week I had it but I didn't care about the stupid
piece of plastic but the wrench did and fixed it without me even asking.
Now that is service (even if I didn't give a crap about it)." - PS

"I was window shopping at Whitt's in June and the salesman ask me what
I was interested in buying. I explained that I wanted a Fatboy, but knew
that I would be waiting until the '03 models became available. The
salesman then ask if I would be interested in a new '02 instead. He showed
me a bike that an unfortunate owner had ordered but they could not locate
him. It was a pearl blue FLSTFI and after getting past the color I decide
to put a deposit down (it was almost $1000.00 over MSRP but no wait). I
went to pickup the bike a couple days later and as we were finishing up
the paperwork, the salesman informed me that he forgot to add the cost of
the alarm to the sales price - $275.00. After a few minutes of arguing
over this screw up, I paid the additional monies. A week after I had the
bike, the salesman calls and tells me that he screwed up the paper work
and I owe them even more money! I spent about 30 minutes talking to the
general mgr. about this screw up and all he could say was it was the
salesman's first bike sale. I told the sales mgr. that I wasn't paying
anymore money and told him to refund my money and come pickup the bike!!!
He showed up at my house about an hour later. This is one dealer that I
would not recommend doing business with - I have since put an order in at
Waugh's for an '03 FatBoy!" - BL 07/02
"I have an 02 Vrod from Whitts HD on consignment in July. I have also been
documenting the high levels of gasoline in my oil since day 1. My dealer,
The zone rep and the factory have all been no help, except to say "change
the oil more often" The bike was a consignment sale from this stealer, and
part of the deal was the transfer of it's warranty until 2007. Now the
service
manger tells me that this warranty is only for catastrophic failures, and
it
doesn't cover diagnosis of the problem. So this is just a little of the
aggravation I have had w/ the dealer/MFG and Zone rep since moving to the
HD. Last week I took it in for it's 7,500 mile check. According to Whitts
without having that service done by the dealer warranty issues would be
hard to claim. And yes I know that is against the law. But in this case I
also needed the head bearing tightened, and I didn't have a tool to fit
it. Knowing it was basically only inspection of items according to the HD
manual, and the service board says it cost $85. I figured it was worth it.
I pick the bike up and the bill has $26 in oil change parts on it. I ask
the
service writer to explain, I didn't ask for an oil change, he says the mfg
calls for it now, and went on and on about how the oil breaks down... I
said
I KNOW what oil does, and that I do my own oil changes so that it can be
checked by the lab for the gas in the oil. He says well that's what WE do
here. I pulled out my manual and point to the line for oil and point out
the
big "I" for inspect. The factory says Inspect it not change it. I demand
they remove the charge. After 20 min of backroom talks w/ management they
take the charge off. or as he said "We'll eat the oil" I said you should
also refund me the additional $30 for the Mobil 1 you flushed down the
drain with only 600 miles on it. They said not a chance that was gonna
happen." - MG 01/04"Went into this dealership and asked a person
behind the service counter what the price of replacing front and rear
tires was. After he checked his price book for about 5 minutes, I was
quoted $310. The service person wrote the price down on a business card
and gave it to me.I made an appointment to have the work done about a week
later. When I went in to pick up the bike, I was billed $415. I asked to
speak to the Service Manager and was asked for the description of the
person who gave me the $310. quote. I was then told nobody who worked
there fit that description and even if they did, they weren't authorized
to give a price quote. I responded that as a customer, I had no idea who
was authorized and who wasn't and suggested they should honor the quote
regardless. I was told that price was too low and they wouldn't honor it."
- JH 10/04 "I priced around for different models I liked and this dealer beat the
other prices. I purchased a 2006 flst black and then had them install hd's
black front-end, exhaust and forward controls before I picked her up.
Great service from the mechanic, salespeople and even a handshake from the
owner. - If you knew me you'd know I'm not the trusting sort but with
these folks you're in good hands." - WH 12/05 |

"According to a well-known biker magazine, readers
have sent in letters claiming that this dealer sells bikes at or near
MSRP." "I just bought a bike from this dealer. I must say they made
it so easy it was a nice experience, unlike some other dealers. The bike was
sold at MSRP, low fees. Web sight great. I would advise people to call here
before you buy. Will sell to any area, and they have an 800#" - BG 02/01
"If you are looking to buy a Harley or just need to have a service
done, go to Waugh's. You will not find a better dealer in the state of VA.
I bought my Deuce from another dealer because they had it and I didn't
have to wait, but, Waugh's will be the only place I take it for service.
Waugh's did my first service. About three weeks ago I was riding in town
and my bike just died, I called them and within 15 minutes they sent a
service man out and he had my bike up and running within minutes. Wanna
know what they charged me? Nothing. That's what I call
service!" - DB 4/01
"Ordered my first Harley (2001 Sportster) from Waugh. One of
the most pleasant buying experiences I have had. Ordered the bike in
July, delivery in December at MSRP. They called me the day it came
in, took my requests for accessories, it was ready the next day. Also got
10% off on the accessories. Great people to do business." - AR

"This is one of the best Harley Dealers I have ever had the pleasure to
work with. From their parts dept all the way to the clothing dept. I have
never had better service. I bought a new 2001 FXDWG in April of 2001 and
have had them doing the service for me every since. The have always done
an excellent job with a quick turn around when they service my bike. I
highly recommend the to anyone in the Northern Virginia area." - EC 03/02
"I grew up near Orange VA and have been going to Waugh's for 12 years.
I've shown up on half a dozen metric bikes just to look at and talk about
the Harley I'll get one day. I've been to Harley dealers in 27 states and
have been laughed out of most of them. They guys at Waugh treat you well
and the mechanic has even helped me limp my import home after a dumb move
on my part. I've moved out of VA, but will ride 700+ miles to buy my new
FLTRI in '03 or '04 I've been to dozens of rallies and poker runs through
out VA and have talked to a lot of riders about their experiences at Waugh
and haven't heard a bad story yet." - AS 04/02
"Last week I was calling all over the state of Virginia for a 2002
Ultra. Waugh HD had one just being opened from the shipping crate. I told
them I'd be there the next day - a 140 Mile one way trip. I was greeted by
one of the sales people and felt a down home comfort right away. The sales
manager took us from there, we went to the shop to look at the bike - it
was just what I wanted. We added my accessories that I wanted and he
suggested a few that I found to my liking. I paid MSRP +
shipping-setup-accessories+ labor to install. All charges were well within
the norm, plus they treat you like down home neighbors. I pick the bike up
on the 18th. Just a great experience." - MB 05/02
"In April I was able to walk in, pay MSRP for a 2002 FXSTDI Deuce and
ride out. The owner (or owner's family) is always accessible. All the
employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and particularly patient. I
especially enjoy dealing with their service operations department, despite
the need to make an appointment several weeks in advance. The quality of
service has justified the planning need to make my odometer match the
service request! I have dealt with other dealers in this region, but have
now settled in with Waugh Enterprises' as my only dealer of choice." - DT

"Need a dose of down home southern hospitality? Then head to Waugh for
your next HD purchase!! I met with the sales mgr on a Sat in July after
returning a '02 Fatboy to Whitt's HD (see write-up in Whitt's HD). We
talked a while about Harley's, older dealerships, and just stuff in
general - never felt more at home. He then took down all my info.,
which bike I wanted, and so on. The sales mgr then informed me that I
should see an '03 Fatboy in the Oct/Nov time frame, but he added, " you
never know what happens". The following Wed. I received a call from Waugh
telling me that an '03 Fatboy would be coming and asked if I wanted it,
of course I jumped on it!!! Bike was sold at MSRP and 10% off acc.
installed. Everyone at Waugh's is extremely helpful, from the sales dept
to the parts dept., you are treated like their #1 priority. I couldn't
believe the service I was getting there... I felt like I had know these
folks all my life! What a joy it was buying my '03 Fatboy from them!" -
BL 08/02
"Took my 2K FLHTC to Waugh for repairs botched by the previous owner.
It's a 90 minute ride to get to them and well worth it. Good service,
friendly staff, eager to please the customer and work done at a fair
price. Couldn't ask for more than that." - BS 01/03
"I searched all over the Carolinas (I live in South Carolina) and
couldn't find the deal I wanted on the bike I wanted. After searching
through the Stealers & Dealers pages, I decided to contact Waugh
Enterprises H-D. They had the bike I wanted, at a realistic price, and
even more than that they agreed to hold it for me until the end of the
month so I could complete a rider safety course. I've had the good
fortune of making a good living and having excellent credit. I've been to
alot of dealers that just seemed totally indifferent. Why? I don't know,
but I can assure you that's not the case at Waugh. My salesperson, Jayne
Long, has been extremely helpful. I'm getting the accessories I want at a
10% discount. The reason these people have been in business so long is
that that they truly seem to care about their customers." - BF 01/03
"I just bought my 2003 Road King from Waugh Harley-Davidson in Orange.
I used to visit relatives in Orange as a kid, and would see the Harley
dealer as we drove by. I always wanted to go in and see the bikes but
never had the chance.
On Saturday, March 8th, I went in for the 2nd or 3rd time, "window
shopping", and met Jayne Long. She showed me what I was looking for and
showed me how easy it was to get financed. My Road King was priced at MSRP
plus accessories, and is just perfect. Everyone at Waugh was great, and I
even got to meet the BOSS. Thanks for a great experience." - DR 03/03
"I had finally decided to buy a new Harley back in the spring of ’02.
I called around to some of the dealers to see what they had. Every dealer
I called either didn’t have an Ultra in stock or was asking 1200 – 2000
over MSRP, stock!!! I had heard Waugh’s advertisement on a DC radio
station and decided to check out their website. Not only do they tell you
about their dealership, they show you what their actual stock is, both new
and used, and provide you OTD prices! The cost of the bike DOES start at
MSRP, and if you can catch them with one still in the crate, which I did,
you can add the options you want and control the price of the bike. The
dealership itself is one of the most pleasant atmospheres that you will
ever experience. You walk in the door and you’ll be greeted by the owner.
The sales staff is pleasant, professional, and definitely looking out for
your best interests. The service staff is professional and very friendly
and the service is definitely is worth waiting the 2 or 3 weeks for an
appointment. The parts and accessories department is well-stocked and the
people are very helpful and friendly and they always have 30-40% on
something. You have to like a dealer where you feel like a family member
and not just a customer." - CH 04/03
"Did research on the Internet and at Harley dealers
for over a year to find the right Harley to buy. Talked to a lot of Harley
riders and was told if you want to buy a Harley, go to Waugh HD in Orange,
VA. Well, they were sure right! Got a sweet deal in August 2003 on a 2003
100th Anniversary Anodized V-Rod which included a 3 year extended warranty,
free setup and shipping, 3% off state sales tax, 10% off all installed
chrome/parts/labor, and 15% off motorclothes for 30 days. Basically, I saved
about $2K, but put it back into chrome/accessories! Jayne Long was my
salesperson and she was super! Also, Don Waugh is always available to
answer questions and assist you! I joined their HOG chapter and the members
are truly outstanding! I was always able to obtain an appointment with
their Service Department and their charges were very reasonable. I have
since moved to Virginia Beach, but will maintain my Orange HOG membership
and relationships made at Waugh HD!" - EF 09/04

"Bayside H-D does not sell at MSRP. I am
taking delivery of a new 2000 FXDL that is plain red with laced wheels.
The base price was $15,890. That is significantly above MSRP.
They did not write up a preliminary purchase order, so when the bike was
being written up prior to delivery it came with the laced wheels that I
did NOT want, which increased the price $320. Their response was,
"Jeez, I thought you wanted lace wheels." Additionally, the bike
arrived on April 3, I didn't find out until April 7, and then they tell me
it won't be ready until April 26! Anybody who doubts this, I will be happy
to send a copy of the purchase order." - SL 4/00 "Owned by the same people that own Outer Banks HD in
Elizabeth City, NC. I am window shopping for my first bike and am about
100% sure I will be buying a Sportster at Bayside within the year.
While I was in there buying a few t-shirts, the manager was on the phone
telling a customer that he could get a new bike in there in a matter of a
few days once a down payment was made. I have been told they sell
for MSRP, period. The floor staff was very friendly and offered
friendly advice and courteous service." - SW 5/01
"They used to
sell at MSRP, but now are well above that. Quote on a new 883 Sporty was
$7900 with a 3 yr. extended warranty. I seriously doubt that I'll buy a
bike from them, but I will get all my warranty work, parts, accessories and
motor clothes from them. The people in every department are absolutely
great. Very active HOG group too. If you're looking for service, Bayside
is great. If you're looking for a good price, I recommend going elsewhere."
- SW 9/01 "After visiting many HD dealers, I found the best price and the
best people at Bayside. I bought my 883 custom at MSRP and was treated with
respect. They answered all my questions without hesitation and made
suggestion that made my purchase easy. The service department made the
changes I requested within the time and price they quoted. I have never been
treated better in any purchase of anything. Thanks to the staff of H-D
Bayside." - CP 03/02 "This dealers claim to fame used to be selling
at MSRP. I can promise you that this is no longer the case with at least
the 2003 model bikes. The price list that the sales people have is ~ $1500
greater then the MSRP price listed on H-D's website. Standing new bike
inventory is extremely limited with perhaps two or three Sportsters and a
couple of V-RODS. Prices on their used inventory bikes runs real close to
current model MSRP. Once you are able to get a sales person attention they
are helpful, but they seem to prefer to stand around chit-chatting with
their current customer base. They have a rather large customer base and the
shop is always backed up and or delayed. It is not uncommon to wait months
for a minor repair or service. To their favor, I will say that they
are still 100% better then the other two local dealers, Hampton Roads H-D
and Southside H-D. It appears that while they started out to build a great
customer base with fair prices, they have now slipped over to the dark side
of the force and do about what ever they like." - SH 10/02
"I bought a 2004 Dyna Super Glide from them and when I
first entered the store and got a quote I was told 12,500 on a FXDI when I
went back and bought the bike I financed 15,400 the salesman just wanted the
sale and when it was time to fill out the customer service survey he did it
without giving it to me. I was also told that I could rent a H-D with my
HOG membership for $25 a day M-TH but when I called a week later I was told
they discontinued that because people abused it. I am happy with my bike
but not the service I got from the sales staff." - BB 04/04
"My
husband and I ordered a $2,000 2 bike trailer. They called us to tell us it
was in so we drove over to hook it up and drive it away. "Oh, you want us
to put it together for you? That's another $70 - we will try and work it
into the schedule this week." A week later I drove over to get it and in a
day or so my husband went to the DMV office to get the license plate. He
needed a title. They had forgotten to give it to us. I called the
dealership, they said "So sorry, we are preparing it right now, come and
pick it up." He drove to the dealership. They had two titles, didn't know
which one was ours. "You will need to go home and get the number from the
trailer." So another trip home and back to the dealership, then back to the
DMV office again. What a run around. 4 trips to the dealership + 2 trips
to the DMV office for 1 trailer = one very unhappy customer. Especially
when we find out that the Hampton Roads H-D Dealership includes the assembly
in the price AND they take care of the license plate so there are NO trips
to the DMV." - JA 08/04 |

MSRP + set up fee $140.00. Bike was delivered with all optional
equipment installed as agreed and delivered on the date promised. Sales
staff treated me like they appreciated my business. The salesman polished
my bike for me while he did a comprehensive explanation of all the warranty
information, maintenance and operation for the bike, and an overview of the
dealership. This must be the reason the size of the dealership has tripled
over the past year." - DW 08/02 |

"I don't go there often, But I over heard the
salesman quoting a 01' Fatboy for $20,000 to some poor guy that came in
the store. Other than that the people in there are Friendly a little
better than Hampton Roads. Southside and Hampton Roads HD are both owned
by the same person so if the Parts Dept in one does not have it they will
call the other store and go out of their way to get if for you or hold
it." - GS 5/01 "Bought a new '01 Sportster 883 there in July. They
delivered it to my house at no charge. Their price was a bit on the high
side, $7800 out the door, but they add a 3 year extended warranty (on top of
the 1yr factory warranty) and a 10,000 mile service plan. I'm no wrench, so
the service plan was a great addition. The sales guy was great. The
paperwork lady and the service guys leave a little to be desired in the
personality department. If they continue to offer the same warranty/service
plan deal in a few years, then I will surely buy from them. Any warranty
work I have done, though, will be taken care of elsewhere." - SW 9/01 "As a rider for several years, and a member of the
military I have had to deal with many different HD shops. By far the worst
experience I have had has been at Southside HD. On different occasions I was
treated indifferently by both the parts dept. and the service dept. In the
service dept I had a question about the dual plugs on the Sportster sport,
the response I got was to buy the service manual (which I already own, and
the answer was not in) and to use a "special tool" the name of which they
didn't give me. The parts dept was less than helpful once they realized the
parts which I wanted: 1) had to be ordered, and 2) I wanted to install them
myself. Also, the parts saleswoman seemed to feel that if her bike didn't
have a certain motor accessory (performance upgrade), no other bike needed
it either. All in all, every time I walk out of Southside HD, I am more and
more disappointed with their dealership in particular and the motor company
in general. The dealerships are suppose to exist to get bikes on the road
and to help them stay on the road, this dealership, is only concerned with
new bike sales and their bottom line." - SM 04/04
"I own a 2003
V-Rod, which I took to Southside Harley-Davidson/Buell in Virginia Beach for
a routine servicing. It was very obvious that the people in the service
department could have cared less about my bike. When I dropped it off, the
service manager barely gave me the time of day. I stood there nonetheless,
and eventually watched him assign my job to a tech who looked very
disappointed about having to work on a V-Rod. Probably because he didn't
know what he was doing -- because when I got the bike back, the chrome on my
very expensive custom controls was nicked up, leaving a huge spot of bare
metal showing. I'll never take my bike to Southside again. I just don't
trust them to work on a V-Rod. I guess water cooled bikes are too
complicated for this H-D dealership." - NT 09/04 "I've had good
experiences here with everyone except the service dept. Parts has always
been helpful, the sales guys informative and eager without being pushy. I've
got nothing but attitude from the service guys, however. Their estimates are
twice as high and will take twice as long as anywhere else (even other
dealerships). I'm happy to go to SSHD for parts, test drives, or a t-shirt,
but if I need work done, I go to Brickhouse (an independant in Norfolk)." -

"According to well known motorcycle publication, this
dealer sells new Harleys at or near MSRP" "We sell at MSRP, all models. We add $500.00 to out
of territory units as we will not see that bike back for service. We do
give a $500.00 gift certificate to anyone who states they are going to
come back to us for their service. We sell 85% of our bikes in territory (
15% outside ) as we have not yet reached our market potential according to
Motorcompany. We sell on first come first serve basis by taking a $500.00
deposit at the time customer chooses model, color and wheel. Average wait
is 6 months and is model specific. We offer Biker Bucks 10% Coupons to
anyone who attends our local H.O.G. meetings or events." Shenandoah
H-D 10/99"I bought my bike there. Great people, paid MSRP
plus a setup fee, got 10% off parts for 90 days. Their service department
has treated me great as well." - SW 12/01 "I bought a 2001 Road King
from Shenandoah in June of 2001 - the salesman I dealt with was straight
with me from the start (but I have seen other salespeople there less than a
Full Clue). I paid MSRP plus the setup fee (which seemed a little higher
than some dealers at $580.00). No push to add anything, but if I wanted
anything added they would give a 10% discount. I would also get a 10%
discount on all purchases for 90 days after I took delivery. All in all -
the sales experience was a good one. I had to deal with the service folks on
a few warranty problems. Even though one problem took a few visits to get
corrected, I have to give the service folks a big thumbs up. They never just
gave the old "That's the way it is" answer - if I had a problem, they dealt
with it. The only downside to their service dept. is the close proximity to
the Blue Ridge Parkway - they seem to get a bunch of folks out on road trips
with "emergency" repairs, and they get pushed to the front of the line
(ahead of people with appointments)." - RS 04/02
"I really like these
guys! Honest and up front, purchased my Sportster in 1994 and have been
glad I did. They didn't just take my money like many other dealer can and
do, they really work with me to get the bike just like I wanted it. There
was never a question of price, MSRP plus tax and tags, I think they still
do. Great guys to deal with." - DJ 08/02 "Excellent dealer.
Just got a 2003 Road Glide at MSRP. Prompt courteous staff. Salesman went
out of his way to get me what I wanted. I will gladly make the 200 mile 1
way trip." - EE 03/03 "I just got a great deal on a new
Heritage Softail and thought I would pass this on. I saw a new bike on e-Bay
that was being auctioned from Shenandoah HD in Waynesboro (near
Charlottesville) in Virginia. After the auction I contacted them and the
general mgr., Robby, told me that particular bike was gone but he had one
just like it and also a couple others in different colors. I took the black
and smoky gold, fuel injected with security system at MSRP. $18,800 total
not including Virginia sales tax and tag transfer. When I got there I
noticed all the bikes on the floor were marked MSRP but had $690 set-up fee
as opposed to the $160 set-up fee I was charged. I mentioned this to Robby
and he told me that he may negotiate on that fee if someone asks him about
it. Anyway, I thought I would pass this on, his phone # is 540-942-1340.
Definitely NOT a stealer! No BS when I got there, no pressure to buy
anything else. My local dealers here in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia
(Southeast, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, etc.) all charge at least $1000 over
MSRP and also tack on a high set up-fee. It was really really worth the 160+
mile drive to get a good deal from a good dealer." - WC 11/03
"While I did pay more than MSRP for my
'04 FLTRI, I have been more than satisfied by the service I've received from
Winchester H-D. They offered an unlimited mileage, all-day test ride on a
demo FLTRI prior to my purchase, and their service department (my bike had a
factory defect that required a complete engine rebuild) has been exemplary.
They've always had work done on the bike either on time or earlier than
promised, and nothing has ever had to be done twice." - CM 07/04
"Stopped by on the way home to Massachusetts. Bought some spark plug wires.
The salesman was more then very helpful. If I lived near by I would buy all
my Harley parts there." - JM 08/04
"I posted a comment in '04 about wanting a new Ultra. In it I said I would
not be buying one from Winchester Harley-Davidson because of their prices
being marked way up. Well guess what, in Aug of '04 I bought an '05 Ultra
from them. After calling all of the MSRP dealers and trying to get a decent
deal for my FLHRI as a trade in Winchester came through. They gave me
between two or three thousand dollars more for my trade than any of the MSRP
dealers I talked to would even consider. The bike I bought was marked up, if
I figured it right about eight hundred dollars. So in the end I got an Ultra
for the price of a Road Glide. After talking to many other dealers I've come
to the conclusion that these people try real hard to be helpful. I posted a
comment in '01 about how well they treated me and it appears that nothing
has changed in that respect." - RM 09/04 "Bought a used
2002 Road King Classic in March 2005 from them. Salesman was very
professional and treated my family and myself like we were family. A very
good dealer to work with. I am happy to tell people where I bought my bike."

It is mainly a store for motorclothes, t-shirts, and souvenirs for the

"I called Winchester H-D about the purchase of a new Road King.
The salesman said they had the model I wanted in stock. He told me up
front what the cost was. It was over MSRP. I bought the bike there two
days later because of their location and I'm familiar with them. When I
had a warranty problem with the new bike. They picked it up within 45
minutes. They are 18 miles away from me. When the problem reoccurred later
they had the same prompt pick-up and brought me a real nice Road King
Classic as a loaner. With a permission slip that said ride it however I
needed to. They didn't charge me one red cent for anything they did. It
may have cost a little more to start with but their service goes above and
beyond what I would consider the norm.... Update... Their prices are still
well above MSRP. Even so they have gone way out of their way to make sure
I have been happy with my purchase from them in Jan of 2001. The RK has
had a repeated primary leak. They have finally got it whipped. It has not
cost me a nickel and they apparently did it out of pocket the last time.
My bike was beyond the factory warranty and they did not apply the repair
to my extended warranty. Regardless of their pricing policy their good
folks and take care of their customers." - RM 07/01
"I am in the market for a 2004 Ultra. I called Winchester

had been shopping by phone and in person at three other dealers who ignored,
didn't take serious or offered very little time and assistance to me. I
talked to my salesman over the phone and his professionalism and knowledge
far exceeded the other three combined and led me to make my purchase with

event, and I would recommend them for sales, services and accessories to
anyone who wants to be treated like friend or family." - BF 01/04 |

"Stopped by with a friend. Both of us Interested in
Buying a new bike. Was quoted over twenty thousand dollars on a 2001 two
tone paint Dyna Wide Glide. My friend and I walked out the door in
hysterics. If people are paying that kind of markup, I feel sorry for
them. I have been told by other people not to deal with them, because they
will not sell you an MSRP on a bike. Also there is no price indication
tags on the bikes, so you have to always ask for every bike on display. My
advice....Avoid." - JM 3/01
"+$3,000 above MSRP for most Big Twins, But they throw in a 4yr
warranty and "free" services up to the 10,000 mile point. Not
worth it. Sales are rude and don't seem to care about people coming into
the shop. Had two friends with bikes that were in accidents get the run
around with the service dept for over two months. Only good service I get
in the store is with the parts Dept (3 day turnaround on orders) and
Clothing Dept. HOG chapter has had 3 different Directors in 3 years.
Unless you are going there for parts, stay away." - GS 4/01
"Had warranty work done here when rear cam bearing failed. Service
people are rude and unfriendly, but they got the bike in and out in a
week. Within 500 miles the valve train noise was so bad I could not ride
the bike. A local indy wrench and I pulled the heads and found excessive
wear on a rocker shaft and valve guide. FWIW, these items are not listed
in the Service Bulletin covering this repair for some reason. IMO no
intelligent mechanic would neglect to inspect this stuff after a bearing
failure. I am paying to have everything they touched redone." - SZ
4/01
"Parts salesperson unprofessional & rude. Commissions are the only
concern! I was very angered by his tone & inappreciative attitude. It is
none of my interest what the salesmen receive for commissions- but they
make sure I know. I find that both the parts & bike salespersons have
very little time to help customers unless there is a sale involved. They
are certainly not interested WHATSOEVER in my satisfaction or patronage!
I have also had extremely poor experiences with the dealerships’ service
and motorclothes. Specifically, service department cannot solve problems &
keep their appointments! Most occasions, they don't even take your bike
in for more than 2 hours after you arrive for your “appointment”. How do
you like your $1000 new purchase of leathers/clothes to smell like
cigarette smoke? The entire dealership is a designated smoking area!" - AG
07/02
"I have
bought close to $1200.00 in parts and acces. For my FLH. Parts people have
an attitude, and don't seem to be interested unless it's a high dollar
item. Also, if they can not read it from CRT they don't know. The
management needs to realize that today's Harley rider has a lot of money
invested, and expects professional service and treatment when they go to a
dealership. They are certainly paying for it!" - WG 03/03
"Dealer has moved, in March 2003, and indoor smoking is no
longer allowed so all motorclothes smell fresh. Dealership now has large
showroom with lots of parts and clothes on hand. Staff is helpful and
cheerful. I have had this dealer service my Ultra, that was purchased
elsewhere, with no problems and prompt service. Service manager was very
helpful on primary chain inspection cover leakage, took care of it right
away, while I waited." - MB 05/03 "I have read some negative comments about this dealership and was
surprised about them. I have been dealing with this dealership for over
ten years and have always been greeted at the door by sales/service staff
by my first name. When I taught the Motorcycle Safety Foundation "Rider
Course" they were always willing to support us with donated helmets, pens,
key chains and other give-away items. I have my motorcycle serviced there,
and they have always had it completed on or before the quoted time. I have
never felt pressured to purchase anything, nor have I ever been made to
feel I was wasting someone's time because I didn't make a purchase. I have
found the sales/service staff to be friendly, helpful and always willing
to hear my needs and go out of their way to spend as much time with me as
I needed. So my advise is to drop by for a visit, and see for yourself
that this dealership really does value their customers, whether you're
just "looking around" or making a major purchase!" - DL 09/04
"I purchased an 03 Heritage Softail from here and I was very impressed
with the dealership. The sales individual was honest and upfront, and the
service after the sale was always, and still is, top-notch. I had a few
minor warranty issues with the bike and they were usually always dealt
with on a no-notice "ride-in" basis; and the service department from the
service consultants to the service manager has always been helpful and
professional. The dealership has an impressive display of motorcycles and
the parts and clothing staff are always ready to help. The bike may have
been a little more than MSRP, but again, they made up for it with their
customer service and other customer incentives. I have been riding
Harleys since 1980 and have seen my share of dealerships. This one
certainly stands out." - RS 12/04
"I recently purchased my first Harley after doing years of research. I
knew two years ahead of time that when I could afford a new bike I would
be buying from a dealer that I dealt with before. I shopped all over the
state and when I called the dealership, the salesperson said he didn't
have the color I was wanting but he proceeded to give me the names of all
the dealer that had the bike I was looking for. I went back and forth a
couple of times with this dealer and another. This dealer only wanted the
write up from the other dealer that was offering the lower price. I got it
and they met the same cost. I went with a different color after seeing it
on the showroom floor. I made the deal and was riding in less than a week.
The staff has been extremely friendly and courteous. The professionalism
is above reproach. I highly recommend this dealership. Very satisfied
customer here!" - RL 03/05 |
