IRON BLOCK H-D
Adams Center, NY

"Two buddies and I were doing the four corners of the US run last year and we called Iron Block HD for service and they welcomed us with open arms even though they said they were busy, they would fit us in and that they did. They certainly saved our day." - AF 9/99

"Open 7 days a week, excellent service dept., brand new showroom and lots of bikes.  No waiting lists! Used bikes carry a one year warranty. Located right off Interstate 81 Exit 42.  Call to schedule your bike for an appointment, most jobs are done while you wait. Travelers from far and near are welcome.  Friendly staff. We are now an authorized HOG. "Fly and Ride" dealer and will also be adding rentals and leasing to our already large schedule of activities" - Iron Block H-D 1/00

"I used to live in South Jersey. I bought my first Harley in 94.  I had never been to a dealership that is as thorough with their services as this dealership.  They take their time to setup the bike and they care about you and the condition of your bike.  They suggest improvements and offer upgrades to enhance the performance and value of your machine.  I have been very happy with the overall experience.  I think you get what you pay for and they deliver.  I want to ride my bike not work on it so I trust them to keep me going. I have purchased my last 4 bikes from them." - CC 01/04

"On August 11, 2004 while on week long motorcycle vacation trip with my family in up-state New York, I stopped in the Iron-Block HD dealership to purchase some warmer clothing for myself and two of our teenager riders.  This was their 1st visit to a Harley Davidson dealership. We were never greeted by anyone, at any point. I looked around for the clothing items that we were wanting and couldn't find what I was looking for so I asked the salesperson behind the counter for some help who stated "I'm not sure what we have, whatever is out there is what we have" she never moved from behind the counter. We all left after looking again and not finding what we wanted (long sleeve tee shirts and sweaters) and were very disappointed and unimpressed with the sales staff of this dealership." - DL 08/04

"I had a couple minor warranty problems with my new Sportster. There was a loose rivet on the fender and the speedometer filled with water when it rained. I took it to Iron Block HD and they wanted to charge me to do any warranty work. The owner told me that when HD reimbursed him he would then send me my money back. This was in 1992 when my bike was new and I have never been back. Went to Sovies HD in Potsdam and they took care of the warranty work for me." - JV 08/05

"Bought my new '02 Fat Boy there. 3 different service issues within the warranty period, 3 bad experiences. I wouldn't let these dunces work on my Schwinn. Stay away!" - TF 09/05

SPITZIE'S M-CYCLE CENTER
Albany, NY
"All I can say is that I have not been so impressed initially with a dealer so far as I have been with Spitzie's.  I got my stock Deuce for MSRP, only additions were for freight, set-up charge of $200, and all the NYS tax/reg. paperwork charges.  I got a 10% off discount on parts so I also ordered basically a complete hotrodded top end and pipes from them (don't have much use for extras unless they make power), and had them install everything at $45 an hour, pretty good considering most shops here charge around $60 or so.  I was from out of their normal "selling area", but I still was able to buy the bike thanks to my salesman.  The bike was delivered spotless and in perfect shape, and in as good a tune as could be had.  Their shop area was very clean and organized, large, and bikes from Pans to TC's were in various stages of work, some stripped to the frame.  This I can tell, means that they have a commitment to quality and I felt OK about them doing any mechanical work, otherwise I would have done everything myself like I always have.  I was sent a free "Starter Care kit", as thanks for choosing them.  I was also sent a plaque depicting my bike, VIN #, and engraved "Custom Made For <my name>".  What mattered the most though, was a small thank-you card, handwritten, from the president of Spitzie's that said something to the effect of "Dear <my name>, I wanted to thank you for purchasing you new bike from Spitzie's.  I wish you the best of luck and hope you'll stop in, even just to say "hi"."  I highly recommend this dealership." - RR 3/01

"I am a first time buyer and needless to say, am a little strapped for cash. Upon going to Brunswick HD in Troy, I was told that there was no waiting list, it was first come first serve. At the time, I hadn't done much extensive research on MSRP, but I did notice that every bike on the floor was tricked out with $3-$5K in chrome - which I didn't need, no could afford. So, I check out a place in Florida expecting a better selection. I almost choked at the > $20K prices. A year later, I went to Spitzie's. I told them of my dilemma. I was quoted a price of pretty much MSRP. I asked about availability and a waiting list. The guy said "no problem - tell us what you want, we'll get it" Wow! I put my name on the list, five months later my Road King + security + FI came in (two weeks early). $380 over MSRP, but includes tag, title, freight, set up, and 1000 mile service. Cool! I'm now waiting for my $1500 in extras to be put on. I think it's too good to be true. I'll post update when I pick up bike, in case there are any surprises." - CD 9/01

"Been looking to find a FXST @ MSRP. I live in RI. Having trouble finding a bike. Called Spitzie's. Talk to sales guy to let him know what I was looking to get into. Told me he would sell me a bike @ $1000 over MSRP but since I was an out of state buyer that I would also have to give them $2000 dollars that would be put on account for future parts and maintenance. What a joke!   You figure it's the middle of winter and they would like to sell a bike. I won't be doing business with Spitzies." - MH 01/02

BUFFALO H-D
Amherst, NY
"Never been treated worse. Charges $1000 over list, adds parts to bike and says take it or the next guy will buy it. Charges for service work at time of purchase before work done because has no service). Everyone goes to American HD (Tonawanda) great dealership, nice ,they treat you like a person. Buying a bike? Go anywhere but buffalo." - JD 4/00

"Dealer has consistently been fair, honest and helpful.  Has always sold at MSRP - No discounts, however great service no extras added, get only what you need - pay for only what you get.  True that first two mandatory service checks are included in pricing - this is their assurance that the service is done, this avoids warranty problems.  Since this needs to be done for warranty - what's the big deal ???  Owner, Manager and Service Manager are great to work with - It's true the have rubbed some 'dreamer/schemers the wrong way but make the decision on your own - It's true though - they don't take a lot of crap - They don't need to - they have been extremely successful so they can't be that bad can they?" - JH 09/04

ARKPORT H-D
Arkport, NY
"I bought my '00 Sportster from them at MSRP +Tax & Shipping and No got to buy parts crap.  My understanding is, if it is coming in and isn't sold, a $500 refundable deposit will hold it for you.  It worked for me.  I do not know if they sell out of the area.  So far, the service has been excellent.  No rip-offs, no crap (Ford, GM, & Chrysler could learn a lesson from these folks). 10% for HOG.  Besides, everyone is friendly." - SB 12/99

"I ordered a tire out of a catalog and was sent the wrong one. It was a holiday weekend and a big ride was planned with rain expected. I needed a tire. I called and was told I could exchange the tire with them, so I drove an hour and a half to the only dealer that was open. Arkport. When I got there I realized I had brought my wheel and old tire, but left the tire to be exchanged home. I was told this was fine. "Just bring the tire up later in the week, We'll mount your new one now". I thought this was great only being there once before to buy a t-shirt." - MS 6/01

"I was able to place an order for a 2003 FXD at MSRP and no set-up fee. The dealer is honest, knowledgeable and customer oriented." - JM 01/03

"Just purchased an ’04 Ultra at MSRP. No setup fee and no pressure. I got a fair price for my 2000. They are friendly, fast and courteous." - RW 12/03

"We visited Arkport HD last year on a trip to Mount Morris.  We were really impressed with the dealership.  The size of the dealership is deceiving - (it doesn't look as big as it is on the outside).  It is definitely worth a visit.  The prices seemed very reasonable and they had a great rack of sales stuff.  The staff was efficient and very friendly.  If you are in the area - they are worth visiting.  I was suitably impressed with the selection, price and service." - CC 08/05
STAN'S H-D
Batavia, NY

"Very nice staff. Everyone is very helpful answering any questions you my have. Service dept. is great! They sell for MSRP, and freight, set-up among the lowest around. Top rated in my book." - SR 4/01

"Sells bikes at MSRP. Family run operation (second generation) they are honest to a fault. Opened a new facility with a first rate service department. GREAT service at very reasonable rate. Owner and employees all ride, and REALLY care about the customers. Excellent product knowledge, and large inventory of new, and older parts. Will perform scheduled maintenance while you wait (with appointment). Well worth stopping in, if you near Batavia NY " - MP 6/01

H-D of NASSAU CO.
Bellmore, NY

"Yes, the devil has many names...And apparently so does Hempstead HD.  I'm told they've moved and  Now go by the name nassau/ suffolk hd on Sunrise Hwy Merrick, NY.  As those of you who have dealt with them know its impossible to change the nature of this beast.  Stopped in there yesterday to p/u a shirt.  I encountered hostility immediately...in the parking lot.  As I parked my bike a female employee o/s on a smoke-break began to criticize some of the custom work on my bike.  She commented on how f--k'n stupid my lay-down license plate tail light combo was.  How you'd have to be an idiot to have an  accessory like that installed...Its such a pain in the ass to drop the tire.  Blah, blah, blah.  I blame myself, I should  have known better.  How could anything this bad have lasted so long???  I'll stick with Lighthouse HD." - JC 05/02

SOUTHERN TIER H-D
Binghamton, NY

"According to well known motorcycle publication, this dealer sells new Harleys at or near MSRP"

"Southern Tier H-D is without a doubt a great place to do business. I purchased my new bike last spring (2001) from another dealer in our area. I was not new to motorcycling, but I was to H-D motorcycles. I ran into a few problems with my bike over the summer and I turned to Southern Tier H-D for service. They took prompt care of each of the problems as they arose, they treated me as one of their customers even though they knew I bought it elsewhere. The professionalism, courtesy and friendly attitudes that is displayed by "all" of their employees, in all of their departments is so hard to find these days. All of my future bike purchase's will be from STHD and I will highly recommend them to any family member,  friend or stranger that asks." - EG 11/01

"I ordered a FLHRI FFSE from STHD and have had it for 2 months now. I am the one who commented above, on buying my bike at a different dealer and then having problems with that dealer on service, and then taking it to STHD for service that was done promptly. Well all I can say is they are still great to do business with, again from the top to the bottom they are all a great group of people that work hard to please the customer, which is so hard to find today in any business let alone a HD dealership. I give them a thumbs up and still will recommend them to anyone and everyone that asks!" - EG 08/02

"I purchased a new FLHT from STHD in 1999 and paid exactly MSRP - but I ordered mine, new bikes on the floor have MSRP+$ w/accessories.  I waited a couple of months and every time I visited the dealer while waiting to discuss my new bike and accessories, they rolled out the red carpet.   I've had the bike over 3 years now (no problems and 28,000 miles) and every time I walk in I am greeted on a first name basis - this includes the Service Mgr, Parts Mgr, Parts Counter Guy, Service Coordinator, Motorclothes Mgr and counter girl, Sales people, etc.  My next bike will be from STHD.   I've visited dealers elsewhere in the country while on trips and can't believe the difference in service - On my last trip, an oil change in Illinois took over 4 hours and I had an appointment and showed up early!  And they didn't wash my bike which STHD always does!" - TQ 10/02

"Charges were Retail price plus parts I ordered. I added forward controls, a LePera seat (not in yet), Large grips, Billet mirrors.  I opted for the dealer's bank / Harley loan as the interest was less than I could get locally. I also opted for the 3 year extended service (1+ 3 year extended = 4yrs the 3 year is $50 deductible per incident, fully transferable if I ever have to sell). This is strictly a personal thing .... I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. Things went VERY smooth, no hard sell on extended warrantee, or on Harley financing (I decided to do it that way after looking at other options), no push for extra parts they were strictly looking to do what I wanted. The extended warrantee reduced the interest on the Harley loan ... it worked out to about $75 to my advantage and made the 3 year extended warrantee no cost over the term of the loan (this is with a considerable down payment). As with most dealers service work is expensive. People that go into this dealer trying to buy a bike the way they'd buy a car and attempt to 'haggle' for a price, just won't get satisfaction. At this dealership, Harley's sell for suggested retail. This dealership will, 'occasionally', add options to a floor model bike that isn't selling then add the options to the price to cover their costs." - SB 11/02

"I recently purchased my second Harley (both FLH family) from STHD - only great comments for everyone there.  I dealt directly with the Sales Manager both times (1998 & 2002).  Paid MSRP both times - only difference was that on the 2003 Ultra I had to pay for the 1000 mile service ($200).  I'm military and out of state - so can't use it, but no heartburn.  The pleasurable experience was worth it.  I've dealt with a lot of other dealers, in my travels, these folks are top-notch." - WF 12/02

BROOKLYN H-D
Brooklyn, NY
"Good luck dealing with Joe! I was looking to by a Heritage Softail at the end of last year. To say the least June was a horrible time to find any bike. He had four Heritage Softails their to my surprise, 2 custom color, 2 in Black. I spoke to him for about 40 minutes trying to work out a price. I told him I would leave a deposit right now and pay him in full tomorrow if he gave me a better price. He would not budge a nickel. He wanted $17.500 + $500 to prep, then tax, (8.25%) for the black Heritage. There is not one dealer on Long Island or NYC that will sell at list! Bottom line he would not budge, that's why he had a nice selection to pick from at the end of the 1999 selling season. Two day's later I went to Hempstead Harley." - EH 3/00

"I recently bought a bike at Brooklyn Harley.  Funny thing was, there was no pressure like I received at 2 other dealerships, Bellmore were my sales man was the one with the big bushy mustache, he kept telling me the bike all ready had $5000 in extras on it and Long Island City, were they couldn't even be bothered with me, when I asked then the price they said around $20,000.  Well, around about price is no good for me. I went to Brooklyn expecting much of the same, but was met with a pleasant smile from my sales person who was not only smart but very helpful, since I haven't rode in many yrs.  He recommended a school to reacquaint myself with a motorcycle.  I felt very comfortable with the sales person, and the good part was he charged me MSRP plus freight and assembly and alarm, tax and tags. Never in a million years did I think I would get a bike at MSRP at Brooklyn Harley Davidson.  I have told many friends to go there, since they treat you fair and when you return after you pick up the bike, they remember your name." - SL 08/03

"Picked up a leftover 2003 lowrider w alarm for 300 over MSRP no other fees added. Added forward controls windshield sissy bar and pad thru service dept. Bike was ready and shiny when picked up. Even got lower insurance rate thru there broker then I could get on my own (with same ins comp I am covered on my old Sportster). Salesman,  service and parts are to be commended. Was even congratulated and thanked on my purchase by the owner. Salesman did not push any extras on me. live in Nassau county but was worth the trip to Brooklyn." - RV 04/04

"I initially used Brooklyn HD as a place to get parts.  Their parts guys are knowledgeable and friendly.  Later, I asked if their service department would help me turn this collection of parts into a wide-glide front end.  They readily agreed.  I was happy with their turnaround time and impressed with what they manage to get done in such a tiny shop.  However, be aware that they have more work than they can handle and sometimes miss the finer details, some of my wiring in the switch housings got pinched at re-assembly, with the resulting problems you'd expect.  Also, the handlebars were clamped in off-center and ridiculously low, so check your bike over carefully.  All in all, though, a good bunch of guys who won't rape you on labor hours." - CD 06/04

ITHACA H-D
Cayuta, NY
"Old time Harley dealer.  Does actual machine work in house.  Welcomes older HD models, pans, shovels, etc.  Straight forward kind of guy.  Gives gift certificates good for anything in the shop if you join the local HOG chapter pays for both yearly national and yearly HOG dues.  This is the kind of shop where handshakes still mean something.  I would not hesitate to purchase anything at all here great shop...." - OC 1/00

"I've been in this store 4 times. The first 2 were when I was looking to buy a new bike and the other 2 times were for parts/accessories. Not once during those 4 visits did a person ask if they could help me or even say hello. I was the only one in the store 3 of those times. When my wife went to purchase accessories for me she also couldn't get the time of day." - DG 12/03

PRESTIGE H-D
Congers, NY
"...gets around $1,500.00 over MSRP plus they usually stick on a bunch of overpriced chrome accessories." - BG 1/00

"I just got my 2003 XL1200C last week.  Besides from a few delays, that weren't the dealers fault, I am very pleased with the experience with Prestige Harley Davidson.  They changed my handle bars and the work was excellent.  Very polite and courteous sales people and all the employees I dealt with during the whole sales experience.  I have a dealer not 10 minutes from my house with Prestige being over 1 hour away, not knocking the closer dealer, but Prestige will get my business because they deserve it based on their treatment of me." - TM 09/02

HARDING H-D
Corning, NY
"They sold me my new bike just the way I wanted it with no additional adder to the stock MSRP. They do require that you spend some money on accessories, which from what I can see most people do anyway I surly did. The complete process was very easy and quick. Harding has a nice inventory of great bikes. I went up to NY and took delivery on Monday and will have it here in Houston next week. Jeff and Steve where very helpful and knowledgeable with my purchase. The bike was awesome. I saved several thousand dollars on this bike even though I to fly there and get it." - L 10/99

"Bought an '01 FXSTD at MSRP, father bought an '01 FLHRCI also at MSRP.  Authorized Dyno center with an excellent service area.  Salesman was excellent - open and honest.  Sell outside of area at MSRP with hitch - you do additional business with them in amount of $2,500 - reasonable considering how much people spend on their bikes after the purchase.  Received top rate service including T-shirts, coffee mug, personalized plaque and thank you card.  They really make you feel special from the top man right down to the clothing department.  Owner himself actually spent 2 hours helping us set up the trailer to make certain we got back to MI okay.  They still know who it is when I call to ask them questions.  I can't imagine better service from any dealer of H-D or any other product for that matter." - JL 6/01

"I bought a new FLSTSI at MSRP. This this best Harley dealer I have ever been too anywhere. I am from south Alabama the drive was 1180 miles and it was worth every mile. I wished the guys in Alabama treated people like this , but that will never happen. Go see these people they do a GREAT JOB!" - JM 06/02

MCDERMOTT'S H-D
Fort Ann, NY
"Just picked up my bike form Tom McDermott. 2000 Sportster $90. over MSRP for set up. Just a down to earth person. I will be doing all my service with Tom because of the way I was treated. I felt like one of the family. I waited nine months for the bike but I am not sorry, it is beautiful ." - WG 5/00

Great Place, Great folks!  I finally got my "life's dream" back in July of 04 - the next 14 months were a nightmare of breakdowns and heartache - the folks @ McDermott's stood by me and tried everything in their power to help get my ride dependable.  In the end, the MOCO ended up replacing my ride - the folks @ the dealership were as stunned as I was, but I think they were just as happy.  Time lapse from MOCO decision to my butt in the seat - 2 days - that's right 2 days - awesome place I highly recommend everything they have to offer." - FD 11/05

GENEVA H-D
Geneva, NY

"According to well known motorcycle publication, this dealer sells new Harleys at or near MSRP"

"Service work is good but sometimes hard to get an appointment.  Bikes sell for MSRP + setup fee of about $800.00.  HOG members get 10% discount on parts and accessories.  One of the better dealer if you get them on the right day." - OC 1/00

"Geneva HD has always treated me good. I bought a new bike from them in ' 88. Since then I have only bought parts there as I do all my own mechanic work, so I do not know what their service is like although I suspect it's as good as anyone's." - A 3/00

"I walked into Geneva HD on April 16th '01 told them I was traveling (I am from Alaska) and needed a 5,000 mile service. The guy behind the counter looked in his book and said we can't get you in until May. "You need to go to Rochester or Syracuse to the big dealers who have more help." was the reply I got. Glad I wasn't broke down!!! If you are on a trip, don't waste your time stopping here. In our 12,000 mile trip this was the only dealer who treated us like this. The others took us right in." - RB 6/01

"I have just purchased a new Heritage and had many upgrades installed on bike. They do fantastic work fast and friendly. I am pleased with the non-ripoff attitude that they have. If you get a chance stop in and see the people that work there. I have been to many Dealers in the past and have found this one to be the best. Please remember when you treat people nice they will for the most part treat you nice back. These guys live by that motto." - CT 01/03

"Buying a bike here was a great experience!!  All employees of this shop were consistently friendly, patient, and knowledgeable.  I knew I wanted a new Sporty last summer, but certain situations prevented me from doing it immediately.  The sales staff was patient with me each time I visited, and shared my excitement when I was finally able to make the purchase this spring.  Bike was sold at MSRP - no mark up.  Plus, they were generous with discounting additional parts ordered with the bike.  They offered the best price and most pleasant staff out of the four dealerships I checked out.  I look forward to building a working relationship with them for all the years I hope to ride." - WM 04/04

VAN'S H-D
Gloversville, NY
"I've checked Dealer's in MA that would sell at list or close to it, but had to be on a waiting list, with no guarantee. Other local Dealers avg. @ $3000.00 to $3500.00 over list, in my area (Boston.) A friend told me to call Van's (about 4 Hr's away). I told them what I wanted (2002 Road King EFI ), they had the bike and color. I paid @ $675.00 over catalog pricing, well worth it. They were very friendly, told me what I needed to drive the bike away. When I arrived, they walked me through the bike, told them it was my first Harley, did not feel intimidated at all. I also received free items (T-shirt, tote bag and welcome video) and was told you get 15% off merchandise from their website. If I had to do it again, I would not hesitate to take the ride again for the savings and service. They made me feel at home. I can't say enough about them. Check them out." - FD 03/02
GOWANDA H-D
Gowanda, NY

"they sell at MSRP but won't sell outside their area at this time." - TM 10/99

"I purchased a '99 xl883c from another Buffalo area dealer for MSRP, plus shipping, paint, set up fee. Had it for six months, went back to dealer and was told that they usually wont take a "used" bike on trade for another used bike. I installed a Wiseco 1200 kit, screamin' eagle ignition module and cycle shack slip-ons, original dealer then told me they would give me around $6k, (only had 1100miles) Gowanda H-D, quoted me (sight unseen, via phone) $7k. I traded for a near mint 1991 FXR with 8k original miles, $3500. and my sporty. I was treated like a longtime customer with no hassles. Everyone was Happy. I highly recommend them." - WR 4/00

"Definitely the BEST HD dealer in WNY. Sells for man. list price, lowest freight, set-up, and service costs in the whole area. 500 mile service is free. Service Dept. is the best I've ever been to. The rest of the staff are real pro's. and even call you by your first name! This place rates 5 Stars!" - SR 4/01

"Living in Western New York, we have many good dealers. However, the No1 dealer hands down has to be Gowanda H-D. My only wish would be to find a car dealer with the integrity, honesty, and quality of service that this dealer demonstrates. " - RS 10/05

HEMPSTEAD H-D
Hempstead, NY

"I went down to Hempstead Harley , they asked me what color , when did I want to pick up the bike. Sure they sell bikes with chrome packages, but that is up to the purchaser, who can ask for one without the package. They also worked out a deal so the package was quite affordable. It was amazing that with Eastern Harley about 10 miles from me, I traveled 52 miles to Hempstead HD to purchase my bike and met someone 2 miles away buying a new bike off them also. When I got my bike at Hempstead Harley, they gave me 4 t-shirts plus they sent me a nice wooden plaque with my model bike on it and my name and bikes serial number. My new friend I met there got the same. What a difference. Any large purchase, I will travel the distance to make the purchase with them." - RS 1/00

"Has a lot of bikes but way overpriced at the bike show in NYC, Lou the salesman was a real jackass telling me I had to change the pipes, redo the carb on the low rider I wanted to buy.  Just to let you know, stay away even though they have a lot of bikes you'll never really know because  most of the people that  have gotten bikes here don't have computers and will never go back for anything." - ST 2/00

"I went to Hempstead Harley and was fortunate that they had a black Heritage Softail that just arrived. The salesman (Lenny) was great and this was my second purchase from that dealer. I paid $16,995 + $500 prep. and tax. so I paid about $1400.00 over list with no hassle, no extras and no bulls**t." - EH 3/00

"Dam near everyone here on the Island Knows "NOT" to go there. There prices are the highest in the state, And there dam rude! To prove a point... We went to there Open Hose just 2 months ago One of our Bros was going to buy a 2000 Fatboy. All was going well "other then the price was NUTS But he didn't care Then when he was all done with his paper work The chick went to the GM's office came back 20 min's later And said "Sorry I cant sell you the bike! My Bro asked why? She said the GM will only sell you the bike IF you buy $3,000 in extras! My Bro said he didn't want any extras! So he went into the GM's office! and told him the same. The GM said " Why should I sell you the bike for the sticker price (WELL ABOVE MSRP) When I can wait till the summer and sell it to some one who will buy 3 to 4 grand in extras with it! Then he got up and walked away! Now this is not a one time thing I told my buddy NOT to go there! We have a Shop here on the Island and we hear the stories ALL THE TIME!" - BH 5/00

"Seeing as EVERYONE knows not to go to Hempstead H-D, isn't it ironic they they sell more Harleys than anyone on the east coast?  Its also my understanding that they are the number two volume dealer in the country, and have been for about 10 years.  Last I heard they were drag specialties biggest customer too.  These figures don't lie, stop by....7 days a week.   Ironically" - EM 02/01

"I just bought a 2001 Road King Classic, I got it for MSRP, though they did charge me $500 for prep and freight. I heard all the negative things about them but they treated me fine and I did pay MSRP." - JF 5/01

"Just a note to all out there. I have just had a great experience in buying my 2001 lowrider. I purchased it at  Hempstead h-d. The salesperson I had was just great. I had changed my mind about colors and delivery dates, but they handled it perfectly. Just with the attitude that the customer is always right, The price was right to , no hidden costs. The day I picked it up , the sales person was more excited then I was. I think when a good job is done , we should give the dealer a two thumbs up. Thanks again to the staff " - CP 6/01

"I negotiated a deal to purchase a new 2001 FLTRI from this dealership. They at first wanted $1,700.00 over list. I balked and got them down to $250.00 over list. I actually broke even, my local dealership charged $200.00 more for delivery and prep, however, they couldn't get me one. Anyhow, I finally get to the day to pick it up and here is where the nightmare began. The bike was filthy, paint scratched, just terrible condition. They said they'd order me a new saddlebag lid, I had to call to get them to order it. Overall, I spoke with sales manager, general manager AND Harley Davidson. Nobody did or cared anything about my experience. I had driven three hours to get it, so I took delivery and brought it home and cleaned it up, it now looks great. Oh yeah, while my wife waited for me in the service waiting room, she had to endure stories of their most recent oral sexual experience. She didn't tell me till AFTER we got home. Stay away from this dealership. THEY SUCK." - MR 7/01

"I have read some bad input about Harley of Hempstead but I just bought a Softail standard and I must say they were nothing but nice, the sales staff couldn't do enough for me, and the Parts people went way out of their way to get my parts, I did get the bike for MSRP plus freight and prep and when I picked the bike up It was cleaned and waxed, they really make you feel welcome and I will be buying all my accessories and tune up parts there Seems to me you believe everything you read sometimes Keep up the good work!" - JM 8/01

"I went here to look at a Sportster which will be my first street bike purchase. The saleswoman was very aloof and mentioned prices way over MSRP. When I asked about a two up seating, she told me additional pegs would need to be welded on but that this would only be $300 extra. Looking closer, I noted the holes that a friend said would accommodate $35 pegs. Guess I looked like a real greenhorn. If the price didn't piss me off, being lied to did. I'm steering clear of this place. Armed with the comments of those on this board, I visited this dealer again, bypassing the previous saleswoman. Before talking numbers, I mentioned that others I "had spoken with" had suggested going elsewhere, but that a few had gotten an MSRP deal, and that I expected them to make good. Upon hearing that, I was treated respectfully this time, and after a short while, I grabbed a new 2001 Sportster at MSRP + $500 prep/freight. No other costs except tax and registration. No pressure either. Glad I'm able to stay close to home." - GJ 8/01

"Been talking to a Sales guy at Hempstead H-D.  Told him that I've been looking at getting a FXSTI Luxury blue with security system. He said that they have one. I also told him that I was pre-approved with financing. He quoted me $17360. (MSRP for that bike is $14610). I asked him for the breakdown of the cost and this is what he gave me. $14610 MSRP. $409.00 for a new exhaust, V&H Longshots, $179.00 for Hi-Flo air filter and re-mapping of the Injection system. $950 for the labor of that plus a warranty for $800 that I did not ask for bringing the price to $16360, and here is the kicker, he then added another $1000 and said "Because I have it." Bringing the price to a whopping $17360. That is a actual quote man! "Because I have it!"  Great way to treat potential customers." - MH 02/02

"I bought a 883 Sportster custom from Hempstead H-D the Salesman was very nice and helpful. I also paid MSRP and 500 for Prep (don't forget uncle sam) with the money I saved I had them put on the SE slip-ons they also re-jetted the carb. They were even nice since the color I choose was in the sister store they were ready to open IE they had to transport it back and then do the work and it was done in a timely manor. I do see  that there are very mixed reviews about this dealer, I did notice if you go in on the weekend they are Very swamped, I had originally gone in during the week and the salesman took the time to discuss what I wanted. Yes I did actually return to buy it during their open house on the weekend but when I approached the salesman he remembered me and we talked turkey. I recently called to have my 1000 mile service and the service rep asked if I had the ABLE program which gives customer preference. Of course I was never told about this, his comment was that if I was interested it would cost $1100 and it would cover all my service up to 25K miles and that I could pay for it tomorrow and could have schedule a service do be done within the next 24 hrs. Otherwise the next appt would be a month away. Steer clear!  HD are nice bikes but I will either buy used or build my own since the dealer doesn't care about the customer. Looks like I'm on my own. " - CJ 07/02

"Although I do hate these guys, they did sponsor a nice open house a couple of weeks ago.  Plenty-O-food, drink and prizes.  Kudos to the ladies at the counter...extremely patient and polite.  As long as you were there for snacks and accessories you were okay...But...Woe to those who wandered too close to the bikes.  They were instantly assaulted by some of the rudest and most abrasive sales people in the business. There wasn't a bike in there w/o at least 5K in add-ons.  I actually overheard a sales person pushing an anniversary Fat Boy, w/ at least 10K in extras, based on the fact that in came with a sissy bar mounted flag.  Yeah right, how much without the flag. These guys are a (negative) constant in the universe. They never change.   Don't go here unless there's giveaways and they're serving lunch.  If you do: treat the visit like any other hazardous situation.  Bring your bullshit blockers, make sure you're aware of where all the sales staff is at all times and know where all of the exits are located." - CJ 04/03

"I recently left my bike at this shop for repairs. After a few days of missing my ride I stopped in and the service writer showed me to the mechanic working on it. The mechanic was very through n explaining and showing me the problems that existed. The mechanic and I chatted for a few moments before resuming his work routine. I am very glad the service writer introduced me to the mechanic as it made me feel that my repair job was a personal thing. Thanks guys, you have my recommendations." - TM 12/05
LIGHTHOUSE H-D
Huntington Station, NY

"Lighthouse H-D has opened up on Long Island. I  made my first visit there today, what a great place. Two levels and great people working there! Lenny C. from Hempstead Harley is the sales manager, he sold me my 99 Heritage when he was at Hempstead. He's a great guy and he gave me the lowdown. Finally I dealer  that will sell at MSRP + $1500 to do with as you please at their dealership! Considering the other dealers (Here on Long Island) tag that on anyway and sometimes more you cannot lose. I know who I'm going to see about buying my next new bike!" - EH 5/00

"After initially going to Hempstead for a new Sportster, I thought I'd take a drive to Huntington. They were quite helpful and the showroom and adjacent store were nice. When it came to price, the salesman notes that they are an MSRP dealer. Then, like mentioned on this board, they add a mandatory $795 service which includes the first five visits, $1000 accessories fee, plus extended warranty, plus shipping and prep. Before my eyes, an MSRP of around $5700 became nearly $9K. Rather than a simple markup rip-off, at least you do get to choose 1K in accessories and an extended warranty that HD will buy back at cost if you don't use it. As for $795 service, my German sedan costs me less." - GJ 8/01

"Great experience with the service dept.  The Service Mngr, spent a lot of time with me  on more than one busy day  helping me plan upgrades on my '01 Fatboy.  He offered a ton of valuable advice on esthetics, and helped me pick out all the right parts & accessories.  The guys in the shop did an awesome job on the installations which included a custom license plate and rear signal relocation set-up and a custom detachable bag kit for Heritage Classic saddlebags.  Everything else that I ordered (headlight nacelle, passing light kit, detachable windshield, detachable sissy bar kit and luggage rack)  was installed to my complete satisfaction." - JC 8/01

"If you're in the area make sure you check these guys out.  Gigantic showroom, parts dept, boutique and an awesome vintage  Harley and classic car museum. Tons of  bikes,  which is rare this time of year. The new '03s as well as leftover '02s, in all colors, new & used.  You could spend hours in this place browsing and BSing with the staff." - CJ 08/02

H-D OF JAMESTOWN
Jamestown, NY
"The total buying experience was by far the best any H/D owner could have. I have bought 3 H/D's since 1999 from 3 different dealers. From time of delivery to dealer, completion of Stage II 95" and added accessories. 2001 FLHTCUI was delivered to my house in less that a week. They are up front and sell at MSRP. The Service Department can handle any repair, they will take the time to answer all questions. H-D Jamestown is an A+ dealer." - BB 02/01

"This was our first Harley purchase and we couldn't have asked for better. We bought a used bike, low miles, excellent condition for well under Blue Book. The dealership worked with our out of state credit union for the financing, serviced the bike, provided a 90 day warranty, a 30 day discount on all other purchases, a year's membership in HOG. and more that I'm sure I've forgotten. We will definitely go there the next time around." - MY 8/01

WOODSTOCK H-D

"Had to back out of a Super Glide I ordered in 2000 due to a back operation. Got the full deposit back; just put another deposit down on an '02 FXDL. They sell at MSRP plus freight and set-up. I have been treated with nothing but respect and concern by the sales staff. To date have only been congratulated by the parts manager on the new bike. Will have to wait and see what the service department is like; if they're even close to the courtesy I've experienced so far. I Finally picked up my '02 FXDL. MSRP plus shipping & freight. No bull, no gimmicks, just old fashioned service oriented establishment. From sales to parts to service, one word says it all... exemplary! You will be pleasantly surprised if you buy from them." - TS 06/02

"Bought my 2002 883 Sportster at another dealer. He was to far to do the service, so I thought I'd check out Woodstock Harley, about 1/2 hour from me. Brought the Sporty in for the 1000 mile service (needed to wait 3 weeks, but hey, it was mid summer), and while there starting asking the parts' guys about cost for the first stage tax (pipes, breather, re-jet). Got a decent price, and jokingly asked if it could be done while I was waiting for the 1k service to be done. Parts guy called service, they said sure, they'd do it. No appointment for the upgrade, and the joint was packed. They even installed some highway pegs I decided on at the last minute. Bike ran great after the upgrade. This, I thought, is cool. I'm trading the bike in for a 2003 Dyna FXD, and I got a good price, just about MSRP. I'm looking forward to building a relationship with these guys, and another benefit, a great tattoo parlor, Pat's Tats, is located right across the road. New bike, and some new ink....doesn't get any better than that." - RM 09/02

"I recently bought a 2006 softail standard from Woodstock H-D.  The salesman was extremely helpful and made my buying experience the best I've ever had. the price was unbeatable at 1000 off MSRP (good until 12/31/06) and only 225 for set up.  My local dealer couldn't come close to that price.  Everyone at the dealer made me feel like I was part of there family.  It was so worth the 150 mile travel to buy from Woodstock.  In all just a great experience." - PS 12/05

H-D OF NEW YORK NY
Long Island City, NY
"They quoted me $12,000 out the door for an XL1200C Sportster 1200 Custom with two-tone paint.  Seems a bit steep to me.  Don't know if this reflects area prices or not." - CH 8/99

"Bought a 2000 Sportster 1200 Custom with two-tone and $600 worth of sissy bar and rack at H-D of New York.  I ended up paying about $1,200 above MSRP.  Given the current state of demand for Harleys and other dealer's asking prices, this seemed like as good a deal as any in the New York City area." - CH 3/00

"Met with some friends to browse.  Many of the bikes were scratched up...missing parts.  Looking for an FLHT.  They had one on the floor.  Saleswomen seemed annoyed that we were there.  "Can I help you guys with something...or what!"  Who needs to be spoken to like that.  Asked for a price, and she disappeared for about 5 minutes.  She came back and quoted a price about $2300 over list...Then she asked "How does that sound?"  Sounds like we'll be looking else-where.  Do yourself a favor.  If you reside in the NY Metro area, Long Island, etc.  Don't go here!" - VK 5/01

"First time my wife went in to look at bikes, the salesperson spent most of the time trying to keep his son (aged 7 or 8?) out of trouble. He also gave us a quote of 17K for a Dyna Super Glide T-Sport (MSRP is about $14,900). I imagined that included taxes, setup, delivery, title, etc. but as he seemed too occupied with this son, we didn't spend too much time with him. As for the saleswoman there, have spoken to her a couple of times and she first seems a little put off that you are bothering her, but she does end up helping. We finally did order a bike but with another salesperson (since I can't use names I will just say that he is probably the oldest salesperson there) and have been quite pleased with his help. He at first seems a little rough, but I think that is just his NY upbringing. As for cost, I think we ended up paying a couple hundred over MSRP. Showroom: There aren't a lot of bikes on the showroom, but I think that is because they don't hold on to them very long. There is a room in the back full of bikes (scores of them). Overall not a bad experience with the current salesperson and the rest of the staff seems pretty friendly too." - KK 03/02

"Visited this dealer on Father's Day, found them closed but noticed a nice inventory of bikes on showroom floor. Called them and spoke to a sales person who gave me a price for a 2002 Deuce; $20,100.00 including tax.  He said the bike had fuel injection.  I asked him what he would charge for a carburated model and he siad, "MSRP plus $500".  He then did some number crunching and got back to me with, "out the door you're looking at $19,430 with tax. Did some number crunching of my own and this is what I get:  MSRP: 16555; NJ Sales tax: (6%): 993.30; Destination:  210; Prep: 300; Doc fee:  45; License: 150 = Total: $18253.00.  If I added the $500 over MSRP that the sales person quoted me It would come out to $18,753. I guess dealer prep comes out to $1,177. I think I'll take my business elsewhere." - NS 07/02

"They got a new general manager about 18 months ago in order to "turn the place around."  He turned it around all right - into a place I won't go to again.  I took my bike in on appointment for an insurance quote and possible warrantee repair.  The service writer has done a good job the last few years.  Next day, I got a call from the new GM that began with "We're not going to work on your bike; come get it out of my shop."  Things spiraled downhill from there.  He was not aware I'd purchased my bike there, nor that I had made an appointment to bring it in.  Neither he nor the service writer were willing to look up my extended warranty number (right there on their computer), nor were they willing to call and get permission to go ahead on the warranty work.  I also noticed that most of the employees have lost their zip; some have told me they don't want to be there and only stay because it's better than being unemployed.  There are a lot of other grisly details, but it is sufficient to say that the GM was singularly unhelpful and though they did eventually make the warranty repair as well as the insurance repairs, they have lost a customer.  Brooklyn HD is closer anyway." - CD 07/05

"Well to start with the place is not the same as it used to be. A lot of new faces that just do not know what they are doing. I did not feel welcome. It was like placing my order at McDonalds. They had no one behind the parts counter that knew what they were doing. The sales staff was very rude and to add to insult the General Manager thought I was a delivery person and told me to get the f--k out. After he found out that I was a customer he did not even think of saying I'm sorry. Needless to say I left the Dealership and will never step foot in that Dealership again. Think about where you want to shop and buy a motorcycle or accessories. If you have a place where the People are cool and you feel good when you walk in stick with it. NYC Harley Davidson just don't get it." - LV 12/05

"I have used this dealership in the past and tried to recently and was never that happy with it exp. for the service writers who were ext. helpful and knowledgeable now that they are gone and most of the good staff are changing or left, I will NOT be going back and either will my family or friends. Due to the GM is on some type of power high this and the owner who I meet once that is cold and distant towards his staff and customers, I feel that he knows nothing about the running of a Bike shop or the commitment that it take to run this sort of shop. The girl at the pasts dept. was absolutely clueless. I used this store because it was close and the service dept. was exc. but now I'll go to L.I. for my service needs." - AD 12/05

HARV'S H-D
Macedon, NY
"sells new bikes for MSRP plus setup and freight all accessories, parts and service get a 10% rebate via gift certificate, you spend $500 in the shop they send you $50 gift cert. this shop is very organized, owned by Harv's daughter now , in business since 1962, she holds a free buffet dinner each year for everyone who bought a new bike during the year told me the exact date my bike would be in , no guess work service manager and parts manager have both been there for over 20 years you can eat off the shop floor , service manager will not repair a bike anyway other than he would like his own bike fixed I got warranty repair on leaky rocker covers 6 months out of warranty, no questions asked bike comes back washed and clean after each service parts manager is the most knowledgeable I know.  If ya haven't noticed I like this shop!!!  Have been doing business for over 15 years there." - NP 7/99

"Called these guys in Sept 2000 looking to order FLHRCI. As luck had it they were scheduled to get one in Oct. Paid deposit that day. Two weeks later I was contacted to see if I had a problem with the bike coming in early. You kiddin? MSRP on bike and accessories. They give a $50 gift certificate for every $500 you spend.  Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Bike and my accessories were flawless when I picked it up. Thanks for a great experience." - WC 4/01

"I was traveling (from Alaska) and needed a 5,000 mile service. Called Harv's at 11:00 am to see about getting it done. They said "Can you be here by 1:00 pm?" Took the bike in and they serviced it while I waited. (Did a good job too!) Thanks Harv's!!! Great bunch of folks there." - RB 6/01

"Without a clue about the world of motorcycling, I shook off the intimidation of going to a H-D dealership. Stopped at Harv's (close to home), walked around for a short while and was greeted by a salesman. Explained my prior experience of mc's and went from there. I let the salesmen know I was going to buy a bike if he could help me out with some questions. Over the next 21 days, I stopped at Harv's 16 times. The same salesmen answered all of my questions, was VERY knowledgeable and very sincere. I decided to check out 2 other H-D shops locally. NOT even close. No time or patience for the newbie. Went back to Harv's, put down my deposit, bike came in in August and have found a new lifestyle. Had the pleasure of riding with the salesman also. He pointed me in the direction of a local motorcycle safety course and even hooked me up with class info. Took the course and received my license. Had the Deuce serviced by Harv's and I can honestly say I will not be going anywhere else. Friendliest place I've been to. And yes they also remember me by my first name, ALL of the employees." - PB 03/02

"I ordered a new 2003 FLHRI over a year in advance, not knowing the MSRP, the bike was built and delivered in the Month dealer had promised, and at MSRP, bike was delivered to my house for free in an enclosed trailer 60 miles away. I also traded in a '98 FXD for 2K more than I paid for it originally, no questions asked since the bike had always been serviced there. This continues to be an outstanding shop with great people, I even received a gift on my B-day from them. Anyone in the Rochester area should look at Harv's before buying a new bike. Bike is always washed when service is done by them too." - NP 09/04

MORONEY'S H-D SALES
New Windsor, NY

"They sell for higher than MSRP. Priced a FLHRI in black, quoted 17,000. The website says this bike should cost a little over 16,000 without F/P. How much can F/P cost? $500? So they are about $500 over MSRP." - M 9/99

"...gets about $1,000 over MSRP plus about $500.00 for F & Setup. They are very easy to deal with." - BG 1/00

"Worth the ride if you're going to buy a bike.  You can save thousands.  Service department races on weekends, and they don't mind using aftermarket stuff." - RH 3/00

"Just bought FXD, decent price, painless delivery, discount parts, service-ok. Recommended." - AA 4/00

"This is a commendable dealership.  They have a large selection of bikes on hand, new and used.  Parts are priced fairly and they have a large selection on hand as well as a good selection of apparel---of which can be bought at a very good deal in some cases.  Parts and Service techs are friendly, and they make a customer feel appreciated.  They also have a web site that promotes a 20% off discount for internet parts orders.  They sticker-price bikes for about $1,500 over MSRP but that includes freight and setup, and for being close to the NYC area, that's pretty good.  Hats off to them too for having a good amount of "activities" planned for bikers, like the annual mileage competition, group rides to rallies, toy runs, and so forth." - RR 3/01

"Went to for service and they couldn't have treat me better. In and out the same day not like other dealer who would keep my bike for three or four days. The service techs. all wore uniforms and looked very professional and did a great job. While there I also bought some parts and the people behind counter were friendly and very helpful. I would high recommend them for their service dept. alone." - CS 08/02

"I bought from Moroneys back in '98 after running like hell out of Harley of Danbury.  Paid MSRP plus freight and a set-up fee of about $600 total, and they gave me a killer deal on my trade.  Seemed like good folk, too. Things have changed. Today, my trade is worth about 3K less to them than another dealer offered me.  And, they're getting MSRP plus a thou, before freight and setup.  The explanation given by the salesperson was "The kid took over."  This after having my bike serviced there and buying all my maintenance items and accessories from them for the last six years. I'll be going to the "other guys" again.  Pity." - CR 11/03

"Sales and parts are great even thou they charge $1500 over MSRP, but service is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Careless, non caring and when they damage your ride, they shrug it off. Warrantee work should be handled by somebody that CARES, instead of bitter attitudes for whatever reason." - BS 12/03

"I used to deal with Moroney's while living in NY and never had a problem with them. When I moved to Memphis, TN I tried to deal with Bumpus HD and asked for the same 10% parts discount I got from Moroney's. Not only was I told NO -- their parts were more expensive than catalog prices. Called the 1-800-FASTHOG number for Moroney's and was told I could order any parts they could get for me and a better discount. To date I have ordered several thousand dollars worth of parts with no hassle. Helpful, knowledgeable, courteous and I've saved a ton of money. Easily worth the few days wait." - HW 07/04

"Gave me $1000 off MSRP on my '05 Dyna at end of the model year.  Setup charge is $500, but that includes the freight charge, so dealer setup is actually only $225.  Only thing sales related I have issue with is that the salesman acts like he didn't know me about a month after delivery, even though I've been a frequent visitor to buy accessories.  Parts folks are great and they have had in stock everything I've ever needed.  Service is questionable in my mind.  Took the bike in for significant oil fouling of the front plug and they just cleaned the plugs and changed the air filter.  Front end from rider's view is cocked slightly to the right.  Been in twice for this.  First time was told it was fine.  Second time the solution was "aligned front fender".  Still no fix on this one.  When going in for service, be prepared to be treated like you know nothing." - JR 09/05

"According to well known motorcycle publication, this dealer sells new Harleys at or near MSRP"

"They sell at MSRP, approx $100 setup and $250 shipping. On a waiting list that seems to be first come first serve and will work with you as to what you want on the bike (i.e., you don't just get what they gives you). I've heard nothing but good things from anyone I've met that's dealt with them, they've been there 15 years now." - JS 1/00

"Have been dealing with these fine people for the past twelve years, and you will still find then selling new bikes at list price, without extras being added on. At the same time up till last season most bike sales through  them were pre-sold , you did have to make an order and place a deposit by the end of August or the beginning of September. This past year, though found them selling Anniversary additions bikes off the floor. They do have uncompromising service, most of their Mechanics have well over twenty years at wrenching, and unlike some of the newer dealerships that I've found recently through the country, these people can and will fix just about any year engine and drive train going. At least four wrenches in their group have been actively involved at one time or another in drag and flat track racing, sharing numerous track records among them. With this resume every customer is assured of correctly performed work. Also be advised that they also have a great reputation for picking up stranded bikes within their service area, working on them in a timely fashion ,and getting you back on the road. They do have an understanding of what it is like to be broke down , and how to treat people fair. The Niagara Falls store is geared around Motor cloths, and has very limited parts, with no service." - HF 11/03

"This dealer recently relocated from it's location in Baylon where it was forever. The new store is very convenient to get to on a main road (Sunrise Hwy, Oakdale). The shop is laid out with a lot of thought involved. It has a great parts department along with clothing and things department. They always have a large quantity of bikes on display. This dealership was always the smallest of the Long Island dealers, but now it has moved to one of the largest and nicest to visit." - RS 1/00

"I purchased my 2000 FXD Superglide from them in May of 2000 and my overall experience has been great.  The owners are first class people who continue to treat me and other customers with dignity and respect. The mechanics in their service dept. are very good.  If they have any weakness it was in their parts department but recently that has improved as they hired a new boss." - MF 6/01

"I bought a 2002 Sportster in September 2001, I was satisfied with the price, I paid $300 over MSRP and an additional $400 for prep.  For the parts and service department they are pleasant and informative.  They discounted the parts and service for the "Harley Tax"  and  other goodies because I am a customer.  I went to price out a new bigger bike and because I purchased my last bike there they sell it at MSRP." - JL 01/02

NORTH END REPAIR
Plattsburgh, NY

"On a trip back to Indiana from the Canada rally on Prince Edward Island, we stopped in Montreal for the night.  The next morning my bike was gone and the other bike was damaged beyond repair.  The Montreal dealer was NO help and could care less about our problems.  After calling North End Repair we feel like we had just met our best friend.  The owner of the dealership sent a driver all the way to Canada to pick us up and return to the dealership to store the bike for the night, drove us to the hotel, made arrangements for us to transport the damaged bike back to Indiana.  These people, we did not know , they went beyond what you would expect. It is true about the Harley family--we feel North End H-D is family.  We will make another trip back to Plattsburgh just to see the new family." - RN 7/01

"While on a recent trip through upstate New York, I needed a 2500 mile service. Pulled in to North End Harley around 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon. The service manager took my bike right in and had me back on the road by 4:00 that afternoon. The price for the service was very reasonable and there was no pressure to do unnecessary work. The staff was very friendly and professional. This dealer seems willing to go the extra mile for out of town riders. I will certainly visit North End the next time I am up that way." - RE 08/02

"The place I bought my first Harley. The only place that does my service. The owner, parts guys are the greatest. Sales guys, there sales guys what more can you say. Seriously there all a great bunch. If you want a Harley @ MSRP this is the place. Got to be quick though, the sellout early." - SW 10/02

"I travel over from Ontario to buy parts and accessories at Sovie's.  This small dealership is lead by the owner who is manager, salesman, service manager, and parts guy; so he is a little busy when you walk in.  After getting his attention you will be treated in fine northern NY hospitality and good prices.  The key is patience; don't be in a rush for big city service.  If you need parts, I suggest faxing in your order a week before you plan to visit and your order will be waiting with your name on it.  Overall, a fine small town dealer." - RM 04/05

"How this guy is still in business is beyond me. I was on a list to get a bike. (1 year I was told).  I went to them to buy saddlebags. They had one on display , a little faded and the other one had a snap broken off it. I asked the owner, Stanley, what would he do for me. He said he would try to fix the snap, but no way would he discount it. To order a new pair would take about 2 months.  Another time I went to buy something for $49.99. His son rang it up for $63.00. I told him he made a mistake with the register. He told me the price went up and it was now $59.99. The package was clearly marked $49.99 along with the 5 others on the shelf. The owner disagreed with my logic , in front of a potential customer and said when I informed him it was against the law what he was doing, he would split the difference with me. I recently brought a friend there who couldn't find a Blue/ice Dyna wide glide. Eastern had a custom color Blue green/cream Dyna, he fell in love with the bike and bought boots, helmet , gloves and jacket along with the bike . He also ordered a chrome rear wheel, screamin' eagle exhaust, chrome swing arm, tachometer and mount for this bike. The bill was unbelievably high with no discounts for anything." - RS 1/00

"Stanley, the owner of this dealership is the Poster Child for the arrogant, buy the bike now or get out of my store jackass. That's what we are forced to deal with. There are countless stories about this guy's abrasive personality and lack of respect for the customer. He refuses to refund deposits on bikes he knows he will sell. When I went to buy a bike a few years back, I wanted Blue or Black. There was a purple Sportster on the floor. He told me take it or leave it, it was the only one left. Drove 40 extra miles to Hempstead to get the blue one. Despite these incidents and his general nastiness I foolishly went back to this store to buy some parts. I purchased some billet pegs. I went home and installed the kit and the pegs did not fit right. Went to return the parts, brought the pegs and one support to show the problem. First
thing Stanley does is tell me that the support was not a Harley part. It was like the twilight zone, nasty and out in left filed immediately. Next he tells me I should bring the pegs to a machine shop to be milled, the guy would not even let me return a perfect part. Then as my buddy is telling him not to force the parts, he pushes them together, taking a chunk of chrome with it. No, he starts acting really irrational. Spitting and cursing. Demands my receipt which I give him. Starts foaming out the mouth telling me I don't have the right receipt. I gave him the credit card receipt and the handwritten receipt for the parts I ordered. He tells me I should have a white receipt for the other parts, which I don't deny. I tell him I did not get one (I had the receipt filed), He insists that it is not possible that I did not get one and does not use his computer to look it up (simple task). My buddy asks him to do the math, his response was "I don't know what that is, it could be a helmet." At this point I am shocked at this display and demand a refund for the parts I had ordered. He did this and told me I could have a refund for the other parts when I brought in the receipt, which has already been established to not exist. This guy acted irrationally to a simple request for an exchange. Oh yea, I forgot, He told me "I don't need this aggravation, get out of my store, don't come back." He also charges way over MSRP, which is normal on Long Island." - CF 4/00

CYCLE STOP H-D
Rochester, NY

"Scanning through this list of Harley dealerships you'll notice that most of them are called "So and So Harley-Davidson"  this place is not called Rochester Harley-Davidson  because they sell all kinds of other motorcycles (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki etc.).  For years they have been promising to take the rice burners out and open another shop that is exclusively for the Jap bikes but it hasn't happened yet.  The new Harleys that they do have have tons of extra accessories bolted on so that they can sell the bike for more profit.   While I live right in Rochester I try to avoid the place altogether.   I am on my second Harley and learned long ago to stay away from here.  I buy my parts online Chicago H-D is my e-dealer and offers parts at 20% off all the time, 3 day delivery most of the time and no sales tax so the few bucks for UPS is not an issue.  Geneva H-D is my favorite near here and Stan's in Batavia is my  second choice.  Next in line would be Harv's in Macedon." - LS 03/02

"The Cycle Stop has opened up a second shop for the Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki etc. market.  The original store is for the American brands." - TH 11/02

"I bought my new 2003 883 Hugger at Cycle Stop. On  6/14/05 the salesman gave me a price to trade in my bike towards a lightly used 2005 Softail with many accessories. He put it on hold for me. I called the next day, confirmed that I was coming in for it on 6/16/05. When I returned, money in hand, the bike was not only sold but had been picked up. I was devastated. Cycle Stop has a bad rep in these parts and now I know why. My fiancée and I were loyal customers, returning there for warranty service and all sorts of accessories, clothes, etc. for my bike and his Road King. I cannot not see myself ever returning to Cycle Stop." - BG 06/05

"Purchased a used 01 FLHTPI.  Great price on a low mileage bike.  Bike is from Yonkers NY PD and did escort work and escorts for 9-11 funerals.  Now the bad.  There service dept is a rip-off.  Had an appt. to set my low speed idle.  Not only did they not do it correctly they charged me a hundred bucks for it.  Called when I rode home to complain and the serv. manager told me to take out the cams and such that are in the engine now and replace them with SE parts.  Because it is not a stock bike they said they couldn't set low speed idle because of the different after market parts in the engine.  I have S&S cams, Dobeck DFO, KB flat top pistons, Big Boyz Street heads,  and barrels bored and torque plate honed.  Now here is the clinker, the next level of management told me that I need to put a PCIII on the bike or a SERT.  It is the only way I could guarantee the correct idle.  Total bullshit.  The PC and SERT are downstream of the ecm and the SERT won't work with an 01 MM throttle body.  Stay away from them and there service.  Can't bitch to much about the bike price though.  That was a good deal." - DW 07/05

DICK'S H-D
Rome, NY
"They are a class act. I purchased a 2000 Fatboy at MSRP and they got one for me just the way I wanted, base model in black with no accessories. They did this when I couldn't find one from anyone else to even give me the time of day. Everyone pretty much slammed the door on me. Dick's and the manager Brad are class acts. They even came in on Sunday when they were closed because it was  a good time for me." - MM 2/00
SPITZIE'S M-CYCLE CENTER
Saratoga Springs, NY

STATEN ISLAND H-D
Staten Island, NY
"Never sells any new bike for under $2000 to $3,500 over MSRP. The worst rudest people to deal with. Avoid this place like the Black Plague." - RM 03/03

"After hearing the horror stories about this dealership, I decided to go to the place and find out about buying a 2003 Super Glide. I was told by the salesman that NO BIKES except " Certain Sportsters" were sold at MSRP. I asked him why this was, and he said " Why Should We Give Them Away".  I was told a Super Glide would be $1,500 over MSRP PLUS $595 prep PLUS $265 freight! BUT most if not all new bikes on the floor have the Gold Key Pkg which puts another $900 to $1800 to the price, depending on the model. He also told me in conversation that " All the Other HD Dealers Respect Him and His STEALERSHIP Because They've Been Around For So Long" WHAT BS. Anyway Touring bikes are $2500 to $3000 OVER, Softails are up to $2500 over and Dynas are $1500 to $2000 OVER. LOMBARDI'S DESERVES THR STEALERSHIP OF THE CENTURY AWARD!" - RM 04/03

"In April of this year, I purchased a 2003 two-toned Fatboy from Staten Island, NY's Lombardi's Harley Davidson.  I received the vehicle at MSRP with exception to the additional accessories I decided to add.  I was treated very fairly and with respect; the sales people were all knowledgeable and courteous. I just went back for my first service, added on a few more options, and was treated as nicely as I was the day I rode out on my new bike!  I will gladly go back to Lombardi's if/when the occasion arises for me to buy another Harley, and highly recommend others do the same." - AS 12/03

"In December 2002, I ordered a Luxury Blue Pearl 03 FLSTF. I was cautioned that the color was a last phase model and that it wouldn't be in until the end of April, but I went with it. It came May 1, 2003. I bought it at MSRP and was not pressured for extras at all. I can't say enough good things about Lombardi's. I had an insurance snafu where they omitted "Jr" from the insurance card (I got the insurance from an independent source) they spent hours on the phone correcting the problem and it wasn't even their job to do it in the first place. I moved away to NJ and miss their service. Since they are too far from me I deal with an Indy in NJ and perform whatever service I can myself. It sure would be cool if Lombardi's was closer, so I can take the guesswork out of service and have them do it. For my next bike I will buy from  them even though I have to travel, because they earn customer loyalty." - MO 05/04

"I live in Staten Island and made the mistake of going there to look at a new bike.  I go in there and waited for like 10 minutes before someone from there parts counter said "Hey you need something", I said yes, I want a new low rider.  So he got someone one in sales and I waited another 10 minutes.  When the sales guy came over, I told him what I was looking for, I wanted a chrome front end, Vance and Hines pipes and detachable backrest. Now I did my shopping so I had prices from other places.  He gave me a price that was almost $2500 over the most expensive dealer I went to.  When I told him this, he said to me.  Well, why should I give the bike away, Low riders are very popular models, I told him $2500 is a lot of money.  He said there is nothing he can do, but was so rude about it.  I to another local dealer to buy the bike.  Stay as far away from Lombardi's as you can, my cousin who bought his bike there had to push it 1/2 way over the VZ bridge after they "adjusted his belt", they never did and it snapped.  When he tried to tell them this, all the said was.  Bring it in, he did they charged him for a new belt.  It worked fine before." - WW 10/04

PERFORMANCE H-D
Syracuse, NY
"Two buddies and I were doing the four corners of the US run last year and stopped at Performance HD for service. The service manager was a real jerk (he looked like a girl with a mustache) and would not give us the time of day. Said he had priorities but we were NOT on his list of priorities. They don't care if you're on the road or not." - AF 9/99

"Performance Harley-Davidson has provided me with excellent service since buying my new 99 883xlc. I made the thousand mile appointment at the time of delivery, and promptly forgot all about it, after 2 weeks of no-show I hit one thousand and called. Dave said "bring it down". they were packed but he said he'd try to get it in and out. Only two days, to my amazement. If I remember it was about $100,with chrome oil filter. Very good in my opinion. Sales is a little different, I paid about $1200 over list but $300 something for the Stage One Modifications was in that. The warranty had gone up about $80 for the extended plan. But not bad since they were the only place that had what I wanted exactly. But cheaper would've been better. When I bought new grips I failed to notice one end cap missing until I got them on. They didn't have one in stock, They said they'll replace it when the get some more of that model in. Said they couldn't order it. OUCH. What bites is that the only time you get HOG discounts is the day of the meeting and only on HOG merchandise. Wicked Cheap" - RIP 10/99

"What a loser operation. He wouldn't sell me a bike on his floor because I wasn't in his service territory. I have never in my life offered to pay someone $19000.00 and get treated that way in my like. This place doesn't deserve anyone's business. I mean the dick wasn't even nice about it. I wouldn't buys a damn shirt from that whole. I ended up getting a Fatboy from a shop farther from my house and was treated like a king." - MM 2/00

"I was told by a friend that PHD had a 2001 Teal and White Road King on the floor - the exact bike I was looking for.  Before going up there, I called and talked to the sales manager, and after about 25 minutes (10 minutes of that on "hold"), he told me that he would rather not sell me the bike, simply because I live in Ithaca, only 60 miles south of Syracuse.  Needless to say, this dealer has burned a bridge, and folks I know in Ithaca will not buy there.  When times get tougher for him, he'd wish he'd sold me that bike." - JS 4/01

BRUNSWICK H-D
Troy, NY
These are some of the best people in the business! Upon entrance to their store I was greeted, and promptly and politely sent to the proper sales representative.  I had been searching all over the north-east for a dealer with the bike I wanted in stock and had received a variation of answers to my bike question, as well as a variation of treatment being a female rider.  I was informed that due to my distance from the dealership, and the understandable loss they would take by selling out of their area, I would need to pay an additional $1,000 over MSRP.  But just let me tell you that the dealers in my area were charging $3,000 over including their bad attitude at no additional cost! And even though it is a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home I would gladly drive the distance for the impeccable service I received at Brunswick. So I don't want to hear anyone complaining about paying over MSRP, that is unless you don't receive the quality of service I received from Brunswick.  They are an all family (that ride what they sell) small dealer with a big heart, and they will go out of their way to make you feel at home.  I would recommend Brunswick to anyone looking for a quality staff that stands behind a quality product." - RB 5/00

"Dealer typically charges $1,000 over MSRP, but in my experience you can haggle that down to MSRP.  This dealer also likes to 'customize' new bikes, typically adding chrome, screaming eagle kids, and usually runs about $2,000 or more of add-ons.  So, expect to pay MSRP + $1,000 + add-ons ($2,000+).  Haggle the $1,000 off right away, they will do it. This is a family owned and operated dealership.  Their attitudes can be a bit arrogant, but if you ignore that, they provide very good customer service and are overall a dealer who stands behind their product." - BG 5/01

"Had a breakdown on a trip near Albany and Brunswick was the closest dealer. I rolled into the deserted parking lot on a Sunday just as the bike died completely. While trying to figure out my next move the owner rolled up in her truck and got me squared away for service first thing the following morning ahead of everyone else. She gave me a ride to a motel, offered pointers on places to eat and just plain made a miserable situation much better. The following morning I hitched a ride to the dealer around 11 AM to find the tech rolling my bike out with the repairs already finished. The service manager submitted a "goodwill" claim request with the MoCo since the warranty had expired within weeks. H-D picked up the tab minus $100 deductible. These folks just plain saved my ass and got me on my way ASAP....... and they were quite friendly and congenial while doing so. The gripes about $1000 over MSRP are true. Lots of bolt-on crap on the bikes on the floor and they appear to have a particular fondness for peddling high-buck, special edition painted tin as well. Dunno if I'd buy a bike there but it's a super place for a breakdown! Only real gripe I had probably coulda happened anywhere...... the stator that failed had been upgraded as it has been a chronic problem on Ultras since '99. They didn't have the upgraded part in stock so they installed the OEM replacement. Which means I gotta wonder when I'm gonna get stuck somewhere again. If it happens I wouldn't mind so much if it were in Brunswick's neighborhood. They took *real* good care of me!" - TM 5/01

"I would push my bike past there before I would go in there to buy anything! I've got nothing good to say about that place and know of 10 to 15 people I  Ride with that feels the same as I do. I used  to belong to their HOG group and have family that bought bikes there. Never again!" - JP 5/01

"I was more than happy to pay $5.00 at their open house because it was a benefit to breast cancer society and I got to hear live bands and eat pizza and drink soda/coffee. So the guy that wrote in needs to get a life and I hope he doesn't have any loved ones ever effected by this disease, cause then he can really reach in his pocket! I would also like to say as a H-D rider that has been to over 50 dealerships world wide that yes it does stink to have to pay over MSRP but it is a want not a need and these people are in business to make money and what did they charge ten years ago and what are you reselling your bikes for now? Everybody complains but where do they keep going back to?  I've dealt with Brunswick H-D for over ten years and yes I've had some complaints but they always do right by me and give it their best to try to always satisfy! Really what more do you expect especially when what you receive is usually a reflection of what you've given!" - LV 5/01

"I have been going there to shop for 4-5 years now. I also have used the service dept. for a used bike I bought elsewhere, but had it serviced there. I am very pleased with their service and parts dept. I also bought a 2001 FXDL new for Brunswick H-D, partly because of their parts and service. Family owned ON PREMISES. I like the new shop and would definitely recommend you give them a try. Now that they have a very large showroom, the selection is among the best around." - GS 06/03

"I have purchased five Harley's since 1998 and have always had good luck with Brunswick H-D.  Their service department is about the best I have found.  They are very competitive with new bike pricing.  A very good dealership to deal with !  I would highly recommend them!" - GT 04/04

"Although I bought my 2003 FXD elsewhere, Brunswick HD has done a great job in servicing it. Never any costly surprises. Great advice and customer service. I am so pleased with them that my wife bought a 2004 Sportster from them and she is also very satisfied. There was no pressure to buy more than she wanted and the bike was delivered exactly when promised. I highly recommend Brunswick HD. My wife and I are always warmly greeted by name by all of the staff including the owner when we stop in." - JE 10/04

WYOMING COUNTY H-D
Varysburg, NY
"These people are a bunch of clowns! I went down there to purchase a Harley, and they told me I lived to far away (50 miles). Then I asked if I could see one and they said no their all in the back, and we only sell snowmobiles right now (Dec.). I then asked if I could have a sales flyer, and they said sure that will be $2.50, with that I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine and walked out. What a bunch of farmers!" - SR 4/01
REGGIE PINK
White Plains, NY
"Will sell at MSRP although RK 's are being "held" for members of their HOG . Told this by someone close to the owner. Also will not sell to you if they think you won't come back for service. I.E. you live too far away." - M 9/99

"...gets $500.00 over MSRP plus F & setup on all bikes." - BG 1/00

"My cousin walked in there with a fist-full of cash after I spotted a Softail he was looking for. They wouldn't sell it to him because he was from New Jersey, and not part of their "Regular customer base." - RH 3/00

"I went to Reggie Pink's to purchase my 1st bike. The owner was extraordinarily rude and acted as though she was doing me a favor to sell me a bike. After several conversations with her where she was uncooperative and rude about finalizing my paperwork and giving me a delivery date, I finally decided to go elsewhere.  While the prices are good here, it was worth the somewhat higher price to buy from Stanford H-D, a dealer that actually cares about your buying experience. I also have talked to many others who have had similar experiences at Reggie Pink's. Don't waste your time with these people." - EZ 9/01

"Just picked up my FLHTCI as promised. Put down payment in June and was told "sometime in Sept". Price was as quoted with no hidden costs. About $2,000 less than dealers in neighboring Connecticut. Can buy a lot of accessories or warranty with the extra 2 grand. I opted for the 5 year extended warranty. I am pleased. Heard rumors of the owners somewhat lack of enthusiasm. I was treated fairly and respectfully." - MS 9/01

"I remember these guys from when I was in my teens; they were notorious for their take-it-or-leave-it attitude towards their customers.  Twenty years later, I stopped in, looking to buy my first H-D after all those Japanese bikes and the BMW that I rode up on.  Some things haven't changed in twenty years, and Reggie Pink is one of them.  Subsequently went to Stamford H-D, where the eager sales staff welcomed me, bought an FXDX, and continue to go there for service and accessories.  Not sure how Reggie Pink stays in business, but it's certainly not by trying to keep their (potential) customers happy." - AR 08/02

"I bought my bike (01 FLSTF) from Pink's in '01 for MSRP plus tax, prep and other typical stuff (prep was $260).  They give 10% discounts to White Plains HOG chapter members on both P&A and clothing and will sell bikes at or around MSRP.  The people there know me by name and while they are typical New Yorkers, you can get to know them.  I have my bike serviced there by a certain mechanic whom I trust.  This wrench does good work, and from some of the horror stories I've read here and elsewhere, they are not that expensive - @$180 for 5,000 mi. and @$400 for 10,000 mi.  I have, however, had some custom work done at another NYC area dealer because they gave me a better bid.  The service dept. is understaffed and under-spaced for peak demand periods, so don't even think about getting an inspection done at Pinks just prior to or during peak riding season (trying so is futile - even if you get an appointment, your bike will sit for two weeks)." - JW 01/04

"Called for appointment and was told to bring it that day, but couldn't do it then brought it in the next day Wednesday at 4:30 PM. Had one problem and 20,000 mile check up on my Springer, figured would not get bike back till the following week. To my surprise they had ready on Friday and the bike has ran as good since when I first bought it. They only had the bike for two days and did a great job." - CS 04/04

O'TOOLE'S H-D
Wurtsboro, NY
"Have bought 2 bikes from O'Toole's in last two years. Service, parts and sales are first class acts. They sell at MSRP plus freight and setup ($500). They discount parts and give discount coupons for service, parts and motorclothes when purchasing a bike. I wouldn't go anywhere else." - EM 12/99

"gets MSRP plus $500.00 for F & setup, but theyare a pain to deal with." - BG 1/00

"I went into Tramontin H-D in NJ with my Father, Brother and my Brother's Father-in-law. We were all prepared to buy bikes. Some bikes had signs that said not to sit on them because they were sold. After waiting and waiting in the quiet showroom, my brother sat on a bike that had no sign. "Hey, get off that bike" was their idea of customer service. We all walked out and went to O'tooles in Wurtsboro, NY where we were treated like kings! My brother and I bought Heritage Softail, my dad a Wide Glide and My Bros' in-law an Ultra Classic! That one rude comment cost Tramontin about 50 Grand!" - AC 12/01

"Had a fantastic experience here when purchasing my first bike. The sales and support staff were great; informative, courteous and attentive. Bought the bike at MSRP with low freight/prep charges. No hidden surprises. Free gas, t-shirts, and other goodies were offered on delivery day. I have been most impressed with the after sale attention. Special sales/service promotions, birthday/holiday cards, etc keep on coming throughout the year. Just purchased my second bike from them and can't wait. Keep up the great work, your attention to detail is unmatched!" - RC 03/02

"Bought a two-tone red and silver Sporty Custom. The bike was sold to me at MSRP and a reasonable $500 freight and setup fee with the laced rear wheel option thrown in as a freebee. Customer service was excellent. Also received nice picture in the mail of me and the bike and a free tank of gas with a Harley T-shirt of my choice. Great customer service and the salesman was professional and courteous. If you want to get a fair shake I highly recommend this dealership." - PC 08/05
