"I bought a 2000 fxdx here at what I think was a fair price, after
all the pricing I had done at other dealers. My saleslady was very patient
and did a good job at getting me a bike that fit my price range, that's
not very common in this business from what I have seen. The finance dept
had their act together too, so I would definitely buy here again." -
TC 7/01
"Went to this dealer looking for a new Road King Classic. They were
very busy as we had some nice weather. I was immediately greeted by one of
the newer salesmen. Very friendly kid. We found the bike I wanted and
while he was adding up a quote his boss comes by, sits down and asks me
what I was looking for. He asks me what will it take for me to buy that
bike that day. I say MSRP. He goes to his office, comes back, says "OK".
Well I got the bike today and all I can say is that if every business were
as friendly and up front as these people we'd have no need for the BBB.
Great crew all around in that shop." - SG 03/02 "The mechanical abilities of the "H-D Techs" at this dealer are terrible!
The last service I had done on my '03 Ultra involved a 20,000 mile
service. When I picked up my bike I noticed one of the inner fairing
screws was missing from a bottom hole. After noticing that I checked over
the entire bike. Lucky I did. The tech had removed my front tire and
failed to re-torque the front axle nuts. They were finger tightened only.
The so called tech had lubed my steering head and completely filled the
lower triple tree (cup) with grease. It started blowing on me at 75 mph.
They returned my Ultra to me with a 3" long scratch on the front fender. I
wasn't told this. A fellow rider happened to walk by as they pushed it out
in the driveway and noticed the scratch. It took three months to have my
fender replaced by these guys. I will never deal with these people again.
If you do after reading this, you were warned!" - RP 05/05"I had
some work done on my 04 Sporty as I had a primary fluid leak from the
derby cover. The service techs said I needed to get the rear brakes
replaced as primary lube had been blown on them. I approved the fix for
the brakes and picked the bike up the same day. Well when I was paying for
the bill the tech took forever to ring it up. So all is well for a few
days then I get a call that they did not charge the right price for my
repair. To make a long story short I ended up paying the difference but
the fact that I had to was total BS." - RP 08/05 "In all my years
of buying cars, houses, and other major purchases, I have never been
treated so well as I have been at American H.D. In today's climate it
seems that many businesses have forgotten that the customer might be
important to the success of their company. I was introduced to each dept.
and given a tour of the dealership and I spent some time talking to the
mechanics in the service dept. And all of this was on my first visit
before I had decided to buy. Three months and two visits later I decide
that American H.D. was genuine in their commitment to treat us customers
as the most important part of their business. I bought a 1992 Ultra
Classic with a Factory-reman. engine with a warranty. The dealership
rebuilt this bike and I have made one return to the service Dept. They
gave me excellent service. American H.D. will be getting all of my future
business." - CO 10/05 |

"According to a well-known biker magazine, readers have sent in
letters claiming that this dealer sells bikes at or near MSRP."
"I've been dealing' with Mahrle's Harley for a couple
of years and found them to be great folks to deal with. New sales
are first come first serve from a list @ msrp, the owner is willing to
deal and knowledgeable as is the rest of the staff. As for their mechanics
ability or thoroughness I'd advise anyone to check any work done by
anybody other than themselves." - JC 9/99

day with deposit (January, Febuary). List cancelled at the end of the year
(no five year waiting list). You just have to order on their ordering
day." - AM 10/99 "They are a reputable dealer selling at MSRP. Their
service department is staffed by knowledgeable individuals. Ownership
recently changed but they remain a good place to deal with." - AM 03/02 |

"According to well
known motorcycle publication, this dealer sells new Harleys at or near
MSRP" "I would first like to begin by saying that this dealership
is a very poor representation for H-D and Honda. I have contacted both H-D
and Honda corporate due to the fact that the "owner" will not respond to my
needs. In the past two years I have purchased a brand new Sportster 883, a
Honda Rubicon 4-wheeler and a Honda 1800 VTX Retro along with thousands of
dollars in leathers and accessories only to be continually lied to. The
service and follow through that as a consumer we come to expect is less than
zero at Town and Country. I have tried to communicate to the "owner" on
several occasions only to given a deaf ear. Our last episode that broke the
camels back is when we had storm damage to our Honda, our insurance company
had us take it there to be repaired because they were the closest to us.
Against our better judgment, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, only to
be disappointed again. This happened in July of 2002, the repairs were
finally done this week, May 2003!!!!! Our calls to the dealership went
unanswered as the "service supervisor" was too busy to take our call and
would call us back. That did not happen until after about one year of our
constant instance on speaking to him. Upon inspection of the bike (after
the so called repair) when we got it home, we realized they put the wrong
windshield on, one that didn't even fit and was for a different model bike,
and they dented the front fender (probably trying to get the wrong
windshield to fit. We took it back, they agreed to replace the windshield
(which will probably take another year) but refused to fix the dent in the
fender (they replaced the fender to begin with). We are at our wits end and
I would like to know if anyone else has had similar problems. They may sell
their product close to MSRP, but you get the service you pay for and theirs
is HORRIBLE!" - BM 05/03 "My dealings have been with Town and Country
H-D. I have had nothing but great experiences with this dealership since I
was picked in their lottery for a new 2001 FLSTC. That was back when bikes
were less available and if they picked you in their lottery you got the bike
for MSRP and in 2000 MSRP was a great price anywhere, I ordered it in Sept
of 2000 with a 6 month wait and picked it up on April 1, 2001. The bike came
in on time and the dealership did everything it promised to do." - RS 12/03 |

"This dealer has been selling bikes for MSRP with a turn
around ordering time of about 90 days. They have a fairly large boutique and
have several bikes on the floor for sale. They don't always keep their
word on sales issues, so it's best to take any verbal agreements to paper. "
- BM 03/02 "Detroit Harley is an Ok dealer... I suppose. You need to
insist on MSRP though. They tend to confuse the issue by quoting you an "out
the door" price. They have a fair service department, but I'm not very
confident on their troubleshooting abilities... especially if it is a kit
(like the 89" stroker kit for Evos) I now do all of the service work on my
bike myself. They have a good-sized boutique and parts and accessories area
too." - JP 06/02 "Detroit H-D is working hard to keep my business. I
always see the same parts guys when I go in. They are helping me to learn to
do a lot of stuff myself. I have given Harley items as gifts to non bikers
and they have been ready to accommodate anyone who tried to return or
exchange an item (with or without a receipt). My mother (little old church
lady who's afraid of everything) goes there to purchase gifts for me and my
boys and she always speaks of how well she's treated. Many times I've had
these guys crawling through bins looking for hard to find parts at 6:30 P.M.
on a Friday. I've been burned bad at at a few other dealerships. Most are
good, this one is great." - DL 11/02 "This dealer had the best price
in the local area for a Silver/Black 100th Anniversary XL1200C. I was
treated very well by the sales, and financial people. The service manager
looked the bike over with me and gave me a thorough tour of the service
department, as well as showing me all of the bikes controls, and features.
They delivered it to my home free of charge (the same day I bought it),
which I really appreciated due to the very cold weather that day. The people
at Detroit Harley-Davidson are working very hard to satisfy their customers,
and I will almost certainly buy my next bike there." - DG 04/03 |

a new ultraclassic from Wolverine Harley because the price was great and
the sales staff was the best. They gave me a tour of their beautiful new

there are so nice they made me feel like family. I'm a customer for life."

"Capitol Harley is a lame dealer. I have a 02 ultra with
electric problems from day 1, speedo, sending units, stator, radio, cruise
control, it has been in the shop now 6 times for a total of 6 weeks and
counting. and now with a broke wrist and cant ride for 6-8 weeks by then my
warranty will be off and talking with them about extending the warranty on
electrics they just blow me off.. They call this the mystery bike so they no
it is a lemon...is this the way to do business after spending $22k. I cant
sell it with problems like this and it keeps having them. what to do? Nice
American company, ya right. I hate to say it but maybe a jap bike is in
order. Thanks service manager for my love of a Harley." - ST
08/02 "I will NEVER use Capitol HD again! I went in to look around the
other day just before 3:00 PM on Saturday, staff standing around inside when
I came in, didn't say sh*t that they closed at 3, started turning out the
lights on me. And gave me attitude that I was there still." - SB 04/03 |
MOTOR CITY H-D

"On May 22 I picked up my new 2001 FLHTC from Motor City H-D.
It took 10 months and I paid $750 over MSRP. The total cost for the
bike (black, carb, cast wheels) was $18,351 out the door. New bike
buyers also receive 15% off parts and accessories for the first 60 days
after the purchase. I didn't order the immobilizer but I got one, it
seems as though they're all coming with one, like it or not. I'm
satisfied with the price, the bike, and the overall experience with the
dealership." - TW 5/01
"I must say that I am very pleased with the delivery and service I
received at Motor City. While waiting for my Heritage Classic to arrive,
I dropped by a few times to browse and was always greeted warmly and staff
very willing to answer any question. Delivery was very professional, good
explanations and I left a happy customer. Since then, the service dept.
has done an outstanding job and, although I must drive over 35 miles to
bring the bike in, I know I will receive great service. Have had to have
warranty service and they worked very well with me. Paid $750 over MSRP
(included shipping charges) They have a good team in place." - GO 02/02
"I went to this dealer looking for a new Road King Classic. They had a
used one, 2001, with 8k miles. Asking $18,000! Couldn't even test ride it
unless I basically committed to buying. Salesman wasn't even sure if the
warranty was with or without a deductible (it had $50 deductible). I
really didn't feel right doing business with these guys. I'd expect a
salesman to at least be able to answer that simple question successfully.
Maybe he was new and the others were better. I ended up going to Ann
Arbor. I'll review them in another post." - SG 03/02
"Bought a 2001 FXDWG2 for list price in May 2001. If they weren’t gonna
inflate on that RARE bird, they must be pretty straight on the others." -
CB 12/03 "After going to 3 other dealers I walked into Motor City and
was greeted enthusiastically by one of their salesmen. Told him what I
was looking for and he pulled out his order sheet and started looking.
Said he would have one in in 2 weeks and worked up the price. MSRP + $500
for shipping and dealer prep. I put down $500 signed the papers and then
was introduced to all the dept. heads. Very friendly atmosphere. Got back
to the salesman after touring all the depts. and he told the delivery time
had been moved up a week. I have used their shop before and the work was
done right and when promised. I would recommend this place over American
or Brighton HD. Don't even think of going to Motown unless you like
throwing away money." - MG 07/04 "Motor City Rocks. Well worth the drive to have service done." - GS

"According to a well-known biker magazine, readers
have sent in letters claiming that this dealer sells bikes at or near
MSRP."
"It has been my pleasure to deal with these folks for about 5
years now . I stopped in one day to see how far in line we were on my wife's
bike and they had one someone didn't want at a good price too . Always
have plenty of parts in stock , friendly and courteous . I even ordered my
next bike from them ( too bad Such a long Wait ) Their service dept is
great too." - RR 4/01
"I bought my 1999 FLHT at Sandy's Harley in Fremont Michigan. This is
the way a dealership ought to be run. I always feel like family when I am
there. Great service dept. and friendly parts and clothing department.
Family owned and operated. Not just a money machine but an honest to
goodness "we care about you" dealership. Sells at MSRP - but there is a
list and the wait is quite long. I buy new every 3 yrs so my new 2002
FLHTC will be ready in March and my 1999 will go up for sale. I also
recommend buying the extended warranty if you put on a lot of miles. I
will have about 75,000 on my '99 and any all mechanical work other than
normal repairs were covered by this warranty including a new cam bearing
kit at 65,000 miles (that would have cost me $900.00)." - MS 02/02
"Bought my 03 at MSRP and couldn't be happier with the way
I've been
treated since the sale. A few weeks after my purchase I drove 50 miles
back to the dealership because my engine light was intermittently coming
on. The service manager promptly came out in the parking lot, hooked up
the digital technician and took care of the problem on the spot." - RM 09/03
"My wife and I each just purchased a new 05 FLSTN/I for MSRP with no add on
of any kind. We were able to pick the color, and delivery date. The best
part is he will take our present bikes on consignment and only charges $300
after the sale is made." - MR 10/04 |

"This is my first time buying a "new" hog and I was referred to North
Woods in Gaylord MI. I spoke to "Doc" a mechanic first as there were no
sales reps available. I was very impressed with Doc's phone side manner he
was very helpful and answered all of the preliminary questions to a T. I
then got a phone call from John who again helped me out on the phone. We
set up a time to meet and my girlfriend and I went in and enjoyed picking
out and ordering our new Road King standard. The only thing John could not
help us with was our delivery date.... But he did give me some good advice
that being " Ya can't call her your old lady until the bike comes in" I
would highly recommend Northwood's to anyone who wants to have a good time
ordering and if they honor their service after the sale commitment as they
say and I have heard they do then all is good." - MB 01/03 |

"Went down and added myself to the "waiting list" in the
early spring of 95. "3 years" was the response. In 97 I
went back to check... "4 years" was the response. Possibly
a bit of favoritism or "under the table" dealings? If I
wasn't using the time to save money for the high prices... I would be far
more upset at this. Can't say I trust'em." - GC 9/99
"This place is under new ownership and new management as of
August, 2000, and it's top-notch. Two thumbs WAY up. Had a lot
of chrome added to my bike recently (January, 2001) and price ended up
about 10% over quote. When I pointed this out, they made it right.
I do believe their head mechanic could tear down and rebuild a Harley
blindfolded, he's that good. This is a Harley dealership by which
all other Harley dealerships should be judged." - JK 3/01
"Well, it may be too early to give comments because this is a new
dealership. It used to be owned by Pat Kelley (Kelley's Harley Davidson)
but was sold last year and renamed. I took my bike in for an electrical
problem and was told all work would be under my extended warranty with a
$50 deductible $225 later out of MY pocket I was told that my battery had
failed (no reason given) and the cost of battery and the time to find the
battery had failed, I was charged $225. Not being a happy camper I
complained and was given a new tee shirt as compensation. The jury is
still out on this dealer ship as far as I am concerned." - MS 02/02
"They
will sell new bikes at MSRP. Had a couple of Sportsters in stock with no
waiting list recently. Excellent experienced staff, especially the
mechanics in service department. Big new store under construction in nearby
Hudsonville at I-196 exit scheduled to open in May." - DB 03/02
"After the recent change of ownership, we decided to try Wild Boar's
service dept. for the first time. I needed to have aftermarket handlebars
internally wired and new handgrips installed. After we brought the bike
home, we noticed that the handlebars were scratched. We called them
immediately and they asked us to bring the bike back in so they could look
at the scratches. The mechanic who worked on the bike said "those bars
had scratches all over them when they came in here." That was totally
untrue. They wanted to buff out the bars to remove the scratches. That
seemed to work and we were happy. After some time passed and having the
bike out in the bright sunlight, we noticed that the chrome on the
handlebars had been buffed through. Upon contacting Wild Boar a couple of
times and bringing the bike to their two different locations, we were told
that there was nothing they could do because they are aftermarket bars.
We are very disappointed in their service and many of our friends have had
similar experiences recently. I will not return there for service of any
kind." - RM 07/02
"Being a mostly lazy kid of guy, I took my Dresser to Wild Boars new
Hudsonville store for a new back tire. $285 later, my scoot was ready for
the road. $285 for a tire and installation? That sure cured me of my
laziness, this place must be trying to recoup their building costs
in 1 year or less. You will not see me in their service department ever
again. They did not even flinch at that price but I SURE did! OUCH!" -
MS 03/03
"I think Wild Boar is an excellent dealership. They gave me a fair price
on my trade-in and when I had a problem with my new bike just before a big
trip out west, the general manager gave me his personal cell phone number
in case I had any problem on the road. They sold at MSRP and their
service dept has bent over backwards to keep me satisfied." - SC 01/04
"Wild Boar is an excellent dealership, I was treated with respect and all
my questions were answered patiently by the sales person and sales
manager. I got a great price on my trade-in. Would highly recommend this
dealership to anyone." - RB 01/05
"New GM brought in to clean up customer service issues, I was treated very
well by service folk, and my warranty issues were handled very well.
However, both the GM and the service writers were recruited from auto
dealers. They're very professional, but they lack experience, knowledge
and a sense of tradition. For instance, the service writer thought a Power
Commander was the same thing as a SE Race Tuner. This dealer suffers from
a long standing bad rep, they're changing to deal with that and I'm
certainly giving the new GM a chance to fix the place. In the meantime,
those wanting more than routine maintenance should seek out their service
manager." - BG 09/05 |

"I purchased a new 2000 Dyna Wide Glide (April 2000) from Perry's
Harley -Davidson in Kalamazoo, Mi.. They sell at MSRP but I had to wait
for a 18 months. After being told they were short some Dyna's and I would
have to take a demo and wait another 3 months they did get the bike I
ordered in the right color. While standing around in the dealership on
several occasions I got the impression that there were people getting
bikes every year, no wait. When I picked up my bike it was covered in
dust. I think because I lived 50 miles away and they thought I wouldn't be
back for accessories they weren't overly friendly. After about 5 minutes
of explanation on starting, choke positions and general information the
mechanic said thanks and walked away. I can't understand the attitude."

the high dollar run-around from Classic of Traverse City. We walked in and
found that the people were extremely friendly, and eager to help out. We
ended up buying a 2004 XL883 Custom for $1000 LESS than Classic of Traverse

most courteous salesman, and I would certainly recommend them to everyone.

"I was in the market for a new dresser. Gave Hot Rod a
chance to see what they could do, a saleslady helped me out, very
knowledgeable, and very willing to listen to my needs. The owner of the
dealership came out and asked if there was anything he could do to help.
Long story short I walked out the door with a 06 FLHTCUSE. And a new

that if you are in the market for a new scoot." - GM 11/05 |

"These guys were a breath of fresh air. My
2000 FXD (not bought from them) was leaking around the shift lever and
these folks fit me in, did a temporary fix, and got me on my way. The
service, attitude and atmosphere is outstanding. Wish more places were
like this." - KH 4/00 "This dealer has got to be one of the best dealers in the
state. This dealer is a customer friendly dealer and the employees as well
as management treat you as though you are family. The dealer itself is
small, but well stocked in parts and accessories. The service department is
also somewhat small, but the work that is put out is of high quality. Bike
purchasing had been limited, in most cases, to locals ~ However, since 9/11,
I believe things have taken a turn around and "out-of-the- area" patrons
appear to be welcome as buyers. Bikes are sold at MSRP, but a service
maintenance agreement and extended warranty is added to the total price.
Because of the times, those issues might be negotiable. I strongly recommend
this dealer for sales and service." - BM 03/02 "the service manager is very cool and KNOWS what he talks
about! My 2003 VRSCA was VERY WELL priced and the WHOLE staff at Shiawassee
was VERY friendly whether you want a Sportster or a Screamin Eagle Wide
Glide...it didn't matter to them. Everything that Jim said was accurate to
the tee! Jim has insured that ALL my future H-D's will be bought in
Shiawassee. It is WELL worth the 30+ miles I have to drive to get there
because they take time to answer your questions with ANSWERS rather than
stupid comments or ridiculous attitudes like I experienced at a few select
dealers in the south east Michigan area." - GF 06/04\ |

"I just picked up my first Harley yesterday at this shop.
It's a brand new
2003 Ultra Classic and I could not be happier. This dealership is completely
top-shelf. I have been visiting there for well over one year now and have
been treated like family since the first time I went in. They are a smaller
shop run almost completely by family. They never once ignored my concerns or
left me feeling as an outcast, even when I visited riding my Kawasaki! I
would say their pricing is right in the ball park. My bike was a special
order so it is tough to judge the price. Even still I picked up a 2003 Ultra
with a few extras for just short of $23,000. All of the bikes on the floor
are within MSRP. When I read what some of the other postings say about the
other dealers, all I can do is be thankful for Hamlin's H-D!" - DD 12/02 |

"I had my 99 FLSTF in the service dept at Motown Harley

everybody I can about the service and how I was treated." - JS 7/99
"According to a well-known biker magazine, readers have sent in

3/00 "I have had the multiple misfortune of dealing with these guys.
The sales people are generally disrespectful to customers if you are not
buying a bike. They also claim to be "The Dealership that CARES. The
Friendliest People, Greatest Service Department and Lowest Prices in
Michigan." Yeah, right! Just look at all of the other
complaints on these guys! They
straight out lie to the customers. They advertise a large inventory
of products on sale and wait until you get up to the register to pay to
impose restrictions (not listed or mentioned in their ads). Then,
when you ask to speak to the store manager, the finance manager comes out
claiming to be the store manager, until you ask for his card. They
also refuse to give you the name/address/phone number of the owner's) so
you can register a complaint about their service. Also their service
department will, unlawfully I might add, sign your insurance checks with
your name for you before the repairs are completed. That was a fun
one!" - PN 02/01 "I will never shop this store again.
We've been here numerous times. It is a nice big store and close to
us, but it is not worth the rudeness that you get from the employees.
When the 2001 Buell Blasts came out, we were looking into buying one.
The salesperson was clueless as far as the questions we were asking her
and wanted top dollar. We ended up getting a awesome deal from the
Sylvania, Ohio HD. I also received a Buell shirt for a Christmas
present that was way to big for me. With tags still on shirt, (no
receipt being it was a gift). They would not even let me exchange
it. Now I have a $50.00 shirt I may as use for a rag. I have never
in my life, heard of any store, that wouldn't at least let you exchange
something. Just remember, if you buy something from this
store.....make sure you don't need to return it or exchange it. And,
yes, the 20% off deal that they run, is a bunch of bull. No matter
what I bought during this sale.....it was not included in the 20% off?????
Go figure." - JB 02/01 "I recently purchased a 01' 1200
Sport Custom from them. It was about 1500 over MSRP, they had a overstock
that worked to my advantage. They were somewhat nice on my arrival there
and even sent someone to pick me up at the airport. Of course that changed
after they had me sign my paperwork, I had a hard time getting them to get
me back to the airport. I flew in from Okla. I did a lot of internet
shopping for a bike and waited almost a year to buy one. The only real
complaint is that I don't have the bike yet and it has been a week since I
have flown back. They are supposed to be putting saddlebags and a
windshield on it. How long does it take? The Service dept.'s head man was
very helpful in explaining my bike, and the Finance Manager did a
excellent job with everything. Would I go back? Probably not after reading
some of the other comments!" - WD 4/01 "I stopped there to get
a shirt on a trip to Detroit. In I couldn't believe it when I saw
about 50 bikes on the floor. Then looked at the prices, minimum $5,000
over MSRP and up to $10,000 over. . I overheard a salesman tell a
customer "it's going to get warm next week and all these bikes will
be gone, better get one now". I would be willing to bet they are
still there in the summer. It is hard to believe anyone would be so
desperate that they would buy a bike there." - MG 4/01 "Stay
out of their service department or your bike will never be the same. Now
going to motor city to get fixed what they messed up. This place is the
worst of the worst. also overcharge for bikes." - MB 4/01 "They
have a nice big store with plenty of bikes on hand, ready to go today. but
they're way to crazy with the prices there. I can't imagine any level of
service that would justify going that much over the MSRP. Even as a new
rider, I knew better than to jump on one of those deals just because I
could ride one home now as I was told/" - TC 7/01 "Glitzy chrome
palace, which sells at a large ($3000 - $5000) markup over MSRP. Service
department has a very spotty reputation. I have heard of people whose
bike got lost in the service dept for weeks for relatively minor work.
However I had a drive belt replaced under warranty in about 8 days after
the bike was towed in. The job was done properly as near as I can tell. I
always get the feeling I am dealing with used car salesmen when I talk to
sales staff or management." - JB 03/02 "Watch out for their
marketing schemes, they mark prices on the floor lower and then try to
charge you $1000 freight and $900 preparation fees. They also try to get
you to commit with a non refundable 15% to 20% deposit to hold a bike
while you arrange financing. At one time they were selling for MSRP and a
couple friends ordered flht's putting a $500 deposit on the order, after
one and a half years and no bikes they started seeing flht's on the floor
for sale with inflated prices and when they question the staff they were
told they can have the floor bikes but at the inflated prices, not the
promised MSRP price. And when they declined to purchase these bikes they
had to wait 2 more months to get there deposits back." - LL 04/02
"Less than one year after purchasing a used bike from this dealer (and
spending countless dollars on aftermarket equipment), I went into the
store to solicit a donation for a charity run ABATE of MI region 15 holds
every year for Penrickton Center for Blind Children. The General Manager
informed me that HE puts on ten rides per year for the same charity, and
he will NOT support ABATE events. After speaking with an officer from
Motown's HOG chapter, I found that the money raised for this charity was
NOT donated by Motown, and they only hold one ride per year. When I
politely persisted, the Manager grabbed me by the arm and stated that I
was being thrown out and NOT to ever return. Due the damage they have done
to my friends bikes, I have always done my own repairs, and after this
experience, I urge you all to avoid shopping this dealer." - GB 05/02
"Salesman quoted an out-the-door price of $25k for a 2001 Fatboy floor
model
(btw, this is 2002), expressed Harley's are very limited in production and
it would be difficult for me to immediately purchase one without a 6-9
month
wait. Also badmouthed other dealers, expressing if I ordered a new bike
from another dealer, they would be sell it to the highest bidder and leave
me with nothing. I easily found the preferred pearl color 2002 FLSTFI otd
for $18,510 at another local dealer." - BS 06/02
"I went into Motown's dealership and saw a 2002 V-Rod on a display stand,
4 other customer's were looking at it also. I asked the sales man so how
much for this V-Rod? He stated 29,000.00 plus tax , title & prep. I said
ouch are you out of your mind! Rudely he said if you don't like the price
go down the road. I said the MSRP was 17,900.00 ,3 of the other customer's
walked out right then. The 4 customer was dumbfounded by the price also.
The sales man said go down the road again. So I told him I would and I did
, I now own a 2002 V-Rod and paid 18,987.00 out the door, from another
local dealer." - BB 11/02
"Stopped in to see new rubber mount Sportster. Mentioned to salesman
prices seemed high. I then mentioned I had checked pricing on HD
website. He replied "those are only SUGGESTED prices" then he goes on
about they sell for market value etc. Cheapest one on floor was a 883
basic type in the almost 9K range highest was 12K something. Didn't write
them down but they were high enough to show that "market value" means as
much as we can get out of the customers. Avoid them like a case of VD
unless you have extra money to give away for nothing." - TK 10/03
"Need some repair work on the 883 Hugger that I purchased at Motown
Harley. The bottom gaskets on the two cylinders are leaking and need to
be replaced. Motown quoted me a price of $750.00 parts and labor and
about 8 hours to do the job. Just for kicks I visited a Harley dealer in
Ohio and asked for a quote for the same repair. The result? $400.00
parts and labor and out in 6 hours." - SL 01/04
"The bike I completed paperwork and financing on was sold out from under
me. Which caused big problem with my finance company and credit. Manager
would not return my calls. Very poor customer service. I would not
recommend this location to any rider." - RC 06/04
"Was never told that the bike I was looking at was "new-used." It was
imported from Europe and had no warranty although it was new. The factory
warranty starts when they buy them from dealers overseas. Only after 95%
of the paperwork was done did we ask about the warranty and was told there
was none. I ended up buying elsewhere (American H-D) for MSRP, full
warranty, and no B.S. There are plenty of people to watch you from the
second floor. Spying on you through shelves to watch for shoplifters. I
don't have a problem looking up and seeing someone spying between boxes,
it's just that when you need service in clothing and parts, forget it.
I've stood in line my entire lunch hour waiting to be waited on, with a
paper number in my hand. Then a buddy of the parts guy goes ahead of all
of us (holding paper numbers) and the parts guy says "We don't do those
paper numbers. But they have a dispenser of them then ignore it when you
take a number. I avoid the store like the plague now. They used to have
20% Customer Appreciation days that saved a lot of money. And it's cool
they sponsor charity rides a lot. But the people can be rude, high
pressure, lazy, and even hostile. Not the shopping experience I look
for!" - EJ 07/04
"I wouldn't buy so much as a key chain from this dealership. I recently
took a Riders Edge Course at this dealership. During the rider exercise
portion of the class on the back lot, I laid my motorcycle jacket down
where everyone in the class was leaving their things and my $350.00 jacket
was stolen. I don't know who took, and I would not begin to accuse
anyone. The part that just amazed me, was nobody was terribly concerned.
Never again, Motown HD will I step foot in your Dealership. They still
have not figured out that one dissatisfied customer will tell 50. Much to
my surprise they came through with a new jacket for me. They were very
apologetic about my experience and allowed me to pick out a new jacket. I
hope this is a shade of thing to come." - SH

"I stopped in today to get a price on a new Electra Glide Classic. Told
the salesman that I was looking to buy in February (three months). He
told me that he couldn't give me a price if I wasn't buying right now but
that I could go to Harley-Davidson's website and look it up. They
recently changed their name from Motown to Biker Bob's. An employee in
the dealership told me that they changed names because of the bad
reputation that Motown H-D had. Looks like they will need to change their
name again soon." - EW 12/05
"Biker Bobs, give me a break, you may have changed your name, but your
service still stinks. I had my bike in to have the spokes replaced. First
thing, it took for ever to get the front ones in. Once they arrived, two
months later, I had them re-spoke the rims. What a disappointment. As I
leave the dealership to go home I noticed the front end had a bounce to
it. I thought it might of been the road since they just blacked top it.
Wrong, I get home check the front end and four of the spokes were loose. I
call the dealership and they tell me to drive the bike in and they will
fix it. Wrong. not driving a bike with loose spokes in. After arguing with
them they got the bike fixed it and I pick it up and it has finger prints
all over it. I've given them plenty of chance's and they blew it. I will
never again step foot in that dealer ship. Let alone buy a shirt!
that says biker bobs on it. I asked about the name change and received a
couple of different answers. We want to expand and you can't call a
dealership Motown in Ohio, who says you can't? We changed our name because
people were getting us mixed up with Motorcity and they have a bad rap. I
laughed at the guy and said yea right. If your smart, you will stay away
from MOTOWN. Why does Harley Davidson allow them to represent them? - GS

"I had ordered my new FXSTS two years ago this August and will
never deal with Classic Motor Sports again. I had to deal with 3
different salesman between the time I placed my order and when I picked up
my bike and none of them seemed to care if I was happy or not. Two
of the three have since quit and every time I go in there they have new
staff. When my bike finally arrived it didn't have an owners manual
or any kind of documentation. Here I was with an $18000 bike and all
I got was a key and a handshake. I was told that the manuals would
be shipped to me in a few days. After 2 months and a dozen phone
calls (probably to their rotating sales staff) I had to go in and talk to
the owner to get my manuals. After this experience I was wishing I
had kept my Honda. Since then I have told everyone that would listen
about the terrible customer service and have suggested that they go
somewhere else to order a bike." - EB 7/01
"I just bought a 2003 Heritage Springer from Classic H-D. The dealer
charged me MSRP and discounted my add-on accessories 50% without my asking
him to. They also knocked $200 off the price of a seven year warranty. I
would highly recommend the sales mgr., and Classic H-D as a good place to
do business." - DI 04/03 "I have been trying to work a deal on a
couple different bikes at Classic. Both times I got quoted outrageous
prices over MSRP, one as much as $3000 over for a bone stock 2004
Superglide. I also had thought that maybe my wife could use a 2004
Sportster 883 Custom. The price quoted was in excess of $2000 over MSRP.
I vowed to never give this dealer a dime. I will buy used from the local
paper before Classic gets my business." - KM 03/04 "Bought 2 2003's from Classic, after a bad experience with a dealer in
Lansing, MI. I thought Classic's salesmanwas excellent. He was to the
point, and no pressure whatsoever. Bikes were MSRP with about a $250.
setup. Both times they gave 50% off apparel, when purchased with the
bikes. These guys let me demo about anything, and I have rode 7 bikes
there. Once I took the FLSTF in for the 1000 mile service, and they said,
"This will take about 3 hours. What would you like to ride today? I
chose a Buell Lightning 900 and rode the Mission and Leelanau peninsulas.
(Had perma-grin for a month.) Only drawback is I live 180 miles from this
dealer." - WH 05/05 |

"I just received my first new Harley, an FXST, from this
dealership. They seemed glad to take my order and $500 deposit.
When I asked, they told me they did not charge just MSRP. They said
there was a $600 set up fee and $1,000 for an all-inclusive, 10,000 mile,
non-transferable service package. In fairness to them, I imagine they do
this to minimize the problem of having their customers sell new bikes to
the independent "dealer" just down the road. He buys
Harleys wherever and resells them for yet even more thousands! I
would think, even with free enterprise, it's a business no-no to willingly
supply your own competition?! ABC seems to have quite a few happy and
loyal customers. I wondered about that, so I made it a point to talk
to as many of them as I could during the short (it seemed) 12 months I
waited for my bike to come in. The employees there are usually quite
willing to help and everyone I have ever spoken to thinks highly of John,
a son of one of the owners. I should add that when my bike arrived in
typical northern winter weather, ABC offered to bring it out to my
house in their enclosed trailer for no additional charge. Of the
dealerships in southeastern Michigan, or the rest of the country for that
matter, you could do a lot worse! Just read some of the sad posts on
this site!" - TH 02/01
"These guys run a great service department. My 02 Softail had less than
200 miles on it, and developed an inner primary seal leak. I stopped by
this dealer on a Monday, explained my problem and also mentioned that I
didn't buy the bike from them. They said "No Problem". bring it in. I
showed up with the bike on Wednesday, and was told it should be ready in
3 to 4 days. I picked the bike up the following Monday. You can't tell
that it has ever seen a tool. Spotless service department and friendly
personnel." - RB 05/02
"Wound up being charged 10% over MSRP (on a Sportster, of all things).
Salesman didn't seem to interested in offering assistance. They messed up
the paperwork as well, and needed me to come back in and resign
everything. Guys at parts counter always seem to have an attitude. The
dealership requested I contact them as they wish to try hard to keep
their customers satisfied. She had nothing to say as far as the
salesperson
and the attitude from the guys working at the parts counter. And her
attitude towards me on the phone has ensured that I will never give them
ANY business again (this includes referring people). As far as being
charged over the MSRP she spent over 10 minutes repeating herself as to
how they figure the out-the-door list price. There were several holes in
her explanation that she continually failed to explain. I was charged
$1,000 over MSRP; not including the sales tax, license, and title. The
freight is $250. Okay, so that is still $750. She explained they also
charged for setting up the bike, i.e. gas, oil, etc. 3.3 gallons is about
$6. Oil is about $6. That would still be nearly $700 for labor. I agree
with her that MSRP is a suggestion, but she missed the point of the
posting. To keep other customers informed that they don't have to
over-pay. Its just like a car... if the salesperson refuses to sell at
MSRP or a reasonable amount over... buy from somewhere else. Regardless of
what she believes, there are more competitive dealerships." - MS

"I have had great experience with this dealer. Sales people are
always
willing to answer questions, parts always can find what I'm looking for
without needing to completely reading the parts book, Service guys are
polite and helpful, and the motorclothes personnel are very nice. Great
Dealer, who always seems to stay loyal to it's customers. I will not spend
a
dime in an other dealer in town as long as ABC is in business." - SH 11/03
"Great Experience, Ordered a 2004 Sportster at MSRP + 1000 for tax, title,
freight, etc... Still $1500 less than Motor City's out the door quote!
Got a tour of the dealership and talked to service guy about break-in!
Everyone was very friendly and I got a 10% discount on initial parts and
accessories!" - CC 01/04 |
