"The Service at this dealership leaves a lot to be desired. I would never
take my bike back there again for any repair or service. The service
manager has a bad attitude and the work is sub-standard." - MS 11/05 |

"According to well known motorcycle
publication, this dealer sells new Harleys at or near MSRP" "After buying
my 883C elsewhere because it was on the floor, and being VERY unhappy with
the dealer, I took the bike here, my local dealer anyway, for it's first
service and found the most up front, pleasant, competent, group of people
I've encountered in a long time. The girl in the Service Department puts up
with no BS, knows her stuff, delivers what she promises and then some. The
store is impressive, salespeople are THERE, and the parts people seem to
know their stuff, or ask someone who does. All in all, a first class place."
- WS 11/01 "Service
at this dealership is the very best. The wrenches know their stuff, are
meticulous in their work and will gladly be available to discuss any issues
with the bike. I give them my highest praise and recommend them without
reservation." - MS 11/05 |

"Beware of poor work done at this
dealership. I have purchased 2 motorcycles from this dealer (Mine & Wife's)
4 & 5 years ago. The first 2 years I basically depended on them to perform
various work on both bikes. Almost every time they did any work it was
screwed up in some way and a return for correction was required, and still
in many cases the problems were not properly corrected. When the management
was approached concerning the poor work they basically had a don't care
attitude. Because some of the poor work could have caused serious injury I
wrote a formal letter to HD Headquarters in Milwaukee regarding each
incident. The response I received from Milwaukee was a phone call explaining
that they had no control over the workmanship quality of individual dealers.
Have also heard and seen same type of work they have done on other friend's
bikes. I have since learned to do my own wrenching and they no longer touch
my bikes." - GP 05/02 "I took a friend into Chesapeake to look at the
new Harley’s. There were several new 2003 Harley’s on the floor for sale.
When I asked the salesperson for a price list, he said that we should ask
prices on specific bikes. When I asked him the price of a fully stock 2003
Fatboy, he quoted me over $20,000 dollars. I was truly amazed at the price
gouging that this dealer passes on to customers. At a base price of between
$16 to $17,000 dollars, you can see just how much of a gouge that this
dealer places on customers. I recommended to my friend that he buy a Harley
from a good, honest dealer. If they gouge on new bikes, I can only imagine
how pricey their service is. It was truly a disgrace to the Motor Company."

"Nice folks, apparently knowledgeable,
but parts department seems like it never has the part I need for my pre-78
Sporty. Went in with a shopping list, including common maintenance stuff
like an air cleaner element and battery cable. They searched their inventory
and didn't even have any of those. Walked away almost empty handed - they
had the foot peg rubber!" - BB 06/03 "I was told at a south Florida
dealer (by one of the parts guys, as I was skulking around) that HD of MD
sold at MSRP. Great, I thought, I'll check it out. Called and spoke to a
salesperson, who told me that MSRP was only for MD residents, unless I was
interested in a V-Rod (which I'm not). Why should that make a difference?
And why only to MD residents? They can look elsewhere and shop for price,
why can't I?" - DR 12/03 "Dealer sells @ MSRP to Maryland
residents. I'm told this restriction is so other dealers don't raid stock
to re-sell @ above MSRP.
I've bought three bikes from them and in my experience they are up-front,
honest and don't give any run-around." - MB 02/05 |

"Aside from a postage stamp of a parking lot, I enjoyed going to
H-D of Washington. The staff were easily identifiable and friendly. They knew
their stuff and anwered any questions we had without hesitation. They sell bikes at $600
over MSRP. No waiting list, but once a quarter they open a signup list until they
fill that quarter's slots. The first day the signup sheet opens they limit it to
people in their market area. You pay a $1000 refundable deposit when you order your bike.
When it comes in, you finance the rest. If you order accessories, they're
full price, but if you get them when the bike comes in you get the 10% HOG discount. It's
right next to Clinton Cycles, which handles other brands and has more competition and
non-Harley accessories. Good selection of different styles of leathers, but unfortunately
for me, most of the larger sizes were not in stock. Looked like a good variety of
helmets as well, although they did not carry the Syncrotec, which is what I'm currently
interested in. Very committed to customer service. Too far for me at this time, but
definately worth a look." - RC 7/99 "Over the past 9 years of doing business with them they have
consistently shown themselves to be one of the finest dealerships I have
ever encountered. Always upfront and honest. If you have a
problem with them they want to here about it and get it cleared up pronto.
This is a genuine no BS dealership. You can believe what they say.
The HOG chapter is strong and involved, offering many activities and
always ready to lend a helping hand." - DV 7/01
"These guys are up front about telling you that they charge a straight
$500 over MSRP, and the wait time seems to be an average of 1-3 months.
They also have some bikes in stock, but tend to add options to these,
which raises the price. The only reason I didn't buy from them was that
the bike I wanted was available for MSRP at another dealership in a
similar timeframe. I visited their service department, and noticed that
they seem to take particular care of customer's bikes. They were more
courteous than some dealers I've visited." - JF 11/02
"I bought my first HD, 03 Fat Boy from this dealer. It was a decent
experience. The salesperson was informative and patient. The finance
person pushed hard on the HD financing even though I walked in with a
check, but I guess that's to be expected. The Parts lady walked me through
some options (pipes and such) and explained the pros and cons - even to
make sure I knew it was going to be loud and what the consequences were.
In the clothing/accessory section there was no pressure or hovering but
someone was always there to help out when needed. When I bought the bike
in for the 1000 mile service the I felt like they actually cared for the
bike like it was still one of their own. Good people back there, free with
advice and explanations. I bought the bike right off the floor, no wait,
so I suspect I paid well over MSRP but it was nicely optioned and I have
no complaints." - KK 01/03 "The last review I wrote was in 2001 and nothing has changed except the
personnel. The service dept. is great with top notch people. The service
dept. manager is a no-nonsense woman who is on top of everything that goes
on and makes sure it gets done right the first time around. The general
manager is the same AND he still wants to know right away if you're not
happy so he can get it straightened out. I've been doing business with
them for 10 years and hope to continue for another 20." - DV 04/04
"This is an excellent dealer. Up front about charging $500 over MSRP,
they encourage folks to compare out-the-door prices as they charge lower
set-up and admin fees than many "MSRP dealers." Service department has
been outstanding. They take excellent care of customer's bikes, stand by
their work, and deliver on time. Equipped with a dyno and will work with
SE Race Tuner to custom map ECM. Boutique staff very knowledgeable and
helpful w/o being pushy. What more do ya want?" - BG 07/04
"Got my 2002 Deuce In Jan of 2002 was very happy with the sales paid
500.00 over MSRP Have had the bike in twice for service once for the 1000
mile service and to have the pipes put on and once to have the starter
replaced could not be happier with this dealership." - ML 10/04
"I wanted to let everyone know that the last time I was in this HD
dealership, I noticed that they are now an MSRP Dealer." - TR 12/04
"I just purchased my first bike from this dealer and could not have been
more pleased with the experience. They are an MSRP dealer, and everyone I
dealt with from the general manager to the salesman to the "chrome
consultants" and parts manager were very helpful and knowledgeable without
being pushy. At no time did I feel pressured into buying something that I
didn't want at the time. I have put a lot of time and research into this
purchase so I have talked with many people and visited many dealerships
and this one has stood out above the rest by far and I will not hesitate
to recommend them to anyone in the future." - MR 01/05
"Recently got hammered by a cager, nearly totaling my FLHTCI. HD of Wash
did a great job rebuilding her from the frame up. I worked w/ the parts
folks to spec upgrades to a lot of damaged parts, and since she was gonna
be in there I had them punch her out to 95ci, drop in SE 204 cams, and
tune the PCIII ... A complicated job, and everything was exactly right!
Outstanding maintenance and parts departments supporting an outstanding
dealer!" - BG 05/05 |

"Definately a H-D Dealership. If it doesn't have the H-D logo on
it, you're not likely to find it there. Aside from novelty painted helmets, I only saw
Black, White, Grey, and Black Leather. Fredrick sells at MSRP. They put you on
a waiting list and expect you to check back to see how close to the front of the list
you've gotten. Today I changed from slot 135 waiting on a Fatboy (3 year wait) to
slot 43 for a Heritage Classic Softail (1 1/2 year wait). When you get into the top
10, you need to contact them about financing (and presumably accessories). I asked
about a deposit and was quoted 10%. I asked when the deposit gets paid and was told
"When you pick up the bike". This sounds like either a mandatory 10%
down payment, or some sort of grace period before they get the loan check. I don't
know. I didn't have time to discuss it in full. I'll provide additional
comments when I understand it. Large service department. Looks very well
maintained, but I don't know enough to judge the quality. All parking up against the
building is reserved for motorcycles only." - RC 7/99
Primarily a H-D dealership, however, they are starting to expand to
other manufacturers goods in helmets and motorclothes. Motorcycles
are strictly Harley. They sell at MSRP. It's free to get on
the waiting list, but you can only have your name on one list at a time.
The new bikes are offered to each person on the appropriate list until
someone takes it. You can refuse a bike (for whatever reason you see
fit) and still stay in the same place on the list. When I got my
bike, I was #15 (the 14 ahead of me claimed they wanted a different
color). The wait times on the lists seem over-inflated and may be
deliberately elevated or based on old production rates. My wait was
supposed to be a year and a half, but I got my bike in 6 months.
Sales staff was very helpful and allowed us the time we needed to get loan
and insurance work in order. They helped us compare Harley loan and
insurance rates so we got the best deal (which for us was non-Harley).
Large, professional-looking service department, but no opportunity to
judge the quality yet. Lots of Motorcycle-only parking. On
weekends they have free hot-dogs and drinks for customers." - RC 1/00
"Frederick HD has a great sales staff (Sherman and Linda), the
waiting list for a bike was too long for me, but I would definitely
recommend them." - DR 1/00
"Don't know how there bike prices hold up to the rest of 'em, but they
are great due to the fact that they still stock parts for shovel's and
service 'em. They've also got an excellent machine shop-- I had them weld
up and re-drill the spark plug holes on my old shovel; cost me $350, and
the work was decent. Nice folks, too." - MH 04/02"I had a great deal of problems with this shop. They have very little
space so bikes are constantly moved in and out every day. My bike needed
major repairs and paint. They had to repaint the bags 3 times as they
kept scratching them during the constant moving. The tank was ordered
with the wrong color then the replacement was mistakenly NOT ordered. As
I asked weekly for several months they told me that the factory was back
ordered on the paint, finally got the owner involved and found that the
tank was not on order. Clutch adjustment lock nut was not tightened and
fell off on ride home. Tank breather was not opened so the bike would
push gas out the carb when parked in the sun. Initial estimate was over
400% low." - BD 10/02 "I had a great experience with this dealer. They called a week after I
picked up my Road King to see how I liked it and if I was satisfied with
the way the transaction was handled. When I had the 1000 mile service they
called to see how that went. During the winter I had the 95" upgrade
installed. They picked up the bike and brought it back at no charge.
Called a week later to see if everything was OK. The service techs are
knowledgeable and personable. The parts people will order anything you
need (if they don't have it in stock). Hell, they saved me money by
suggesting doing the 95" upgrade in pieces (rather than buying the kit)
since I already did the Stage 1 intake. But the main thing is that they
will work with you to get the results YOU want. I must have called 20
times when the bike was on order to change the accessories I wanted. If I
ordered something and the salesman thought I should add something else to
balance it, he would suggest it, leaving the final decision to me. I have
to give them a 5 star rating." - BS 09/05 |

"Sales-People seemed nice, always busy when I went in. Big twins
are $500 over MSRP, but they add a year to the factory warranty and will
role the $500 over into the extended warranty if you want (i.e., the 7
year is only $700 more, or $1200 total). Waiting list sign-up is
free, (no deposits) and they quoted me 3-6 months for a red '00 DWG. We'll
see if that's true or not. They have most models on display the floor (all
sold, of course). Parts-Good selection in stock, prices are MSRP, and only
5% HOG discount. Service: Unknown yet, but the "Stage one"
upgrade is $545 installed with tax, which seems a bit high." - PK
10/99 "Good motorclothes staff. Sales staff varies. If
they've a bike on the floor that is available, they'll find a way to allow
you to afford it. If you've got to wait, they act like they've got
other things to do. Waiting list is free to get on, but the time
estimates are worthless. In June, I was quoted a six - month wait
(December). In August, when I checked, I was told it would still be six
months (February). In September, I was told the bike would be in
during February or March. In November, I was told the bike would be
available in the April - May - June time frame. Most likely June.
Two weeks later I got my bike from a different dealer that I'd contacted
after getting on Rockville's waiting list. They do throw a good open
house, and their parts department seems to know their stuff, but I
wouldn't want to depend on them for my bike. Have heard mixed
comments about their service department." - RC 1/00 "Had to order bike, which is no
problem. Was told I would receive calls with status updates.
Never happened. Had to call myself and never got straightforward
answers. Left messages that were never returned. When bike
arrived at dealership, they took their time on 2 hours of work.
Everything was late and they charge $500 over MSRP. They tell you
what you want to hear and not what really is happening. Salesman
pushed for work to be done by them that I could do myself. Parts
people are nice and friendly. Will take to Patriot HD in VA for
service." - TF 6/01
"Was just informed by a salesperson that
ALL of their 2003 bikes WILL be sold with the $1329.00 "100th Anniversary
Gold Key" package, whether you want it or not!" - RL 02/03
"Just
put a down payment on a 2003 Fatboy. The sales staff were honest about their
$500 over MSRP but stated if I was to add an extended warranty, they credit
back part of that. Excellent sales and parts staff. They don't have a large
show room but, make excellent use of space. Everyone was helpful and very
professional. They did not have a two-tone black and silver without the gold
key accessory package but had no problem looking in the computer to see when
one was coming in. Was told "HD was forcing the gold key packages on them".
Not sure if this is true but, my bike is due sometime at the end of
May." - JF 04/03 "Service Department staff at Rockville
H-D was really helpful and went to bat for me to replace a part H-D said was
a "Wear" item. They have also been real good at scheduling service on short
notice. Parts counter staff makes an extra effort to find the small parts
too." - DM 08/04 |

"This is a new Dealer and so far I have
been impressed, with counter service and the sales department. They were up
front and said they charge $500.00 over MSRP for their bikes. They place
your name on the incoming bike list and require no $$ down. I actually
got a call about two months early and was told my bike was in, this was a
pleasant surprise. The bike was emasculate when I picked it up and I was
impressed by the care they took. I cannot comment on their service
dept. as I do my own wrenching. I did take a tour of the shop when I
picked up my bike and it appeared to be a decent shop." - HS 03/03
"Just picked up an 2003 anniversary FLSTCI three weeks ago. I was on a
waiting list for about a week although I paid a bit over MSRP. Got Long
shots put on about a week later and they were really great about squeezing
me in at the service section. I'm pretty impressed overall with them being
a new shop and they are definitely friendly and willing to help. Its a shame
that all shops don't "get it" and take a little Customer Service 101. I
give All American high marks!" - BW 04/03 "Installed wrong rear tire on my '04
Ultra, even after I told them it was the wrong tire. They then had to
change the tire again. This time failing to get the adjuster cams back on
the axle correctly, leaving the rear tire misaligned. I will no longer do
business with this dealer, not even for parts." - MH 04/04 |
