MIKE'S FAMOUS H-D
New Castle, DE,  19720

"5 Fatboys, 2000 models, not 1 piece added. sitting there right now. Price is $21,500 PLUS, freight and prep." - FL 9/99

"I paid a premium price but they too were kind enough to use lubricant and condom. I got the bike I wanted, the fucking I didn't want but if you want to ride you have to pay one way or the other." - IF 11/99

"What a bunch of thieves! Their Service people are clueless. I drove to Mikes to see how great they were. Pure Bullshit. Every bike was a rip-off! They go out of their way to deceive you from the get-go. They say that their bikes are custom, they would not just sell a stock bike . I don't get it!" - MK 12/99

"I purchased a new 1996 fxd at Mike's. I ordered it in July 1994. it came in in April '96. I got it for MSRP, but only because I had my original deposit slip with Mike's, the owners writing, saying ' no options, list price.' then they said I had to purchase the 5 year warr for $1100. After a call to Delaware's attorney general, learning that was not legal, and telling the salesman, I was able to get my bike at the MSRP. I sent someone else there, who was told that they only sell bikes with about $3000 - 4000  worth of accessories on." - MS 1/00

"Wonderful place, everybody happy, tons of everything, I asked the salesman if they are sold at MSRP or marked up over MSRP, he said they are over MSRP and gave me a price of $21900.00 for a 2002 Fatboy, bone stock.2002 Fatboy MSRP $15995.00 Did I mention everybody was happy??" - TS 10/01

"Mikes is a very impressive dealership with lots of customer service oriented employees in all departments.  Everyone seems to know their stuff.  HOG member discounts on merchandise.  Went shopping for a new bike there this fall and was quoted $20300 for a stock FLHRI.  Ended up at Smaltz's H-D in PA and bought the same bike for $16390.  With the number of bikes Mike's moves, you would think they wouldn't have to charge so much.  I guess somebody has to pay the mortgage on that new place." - BB 12/01

"My recent purchase of my 2002 883R couldn't have been more pleasant.  Everybody in the dealership was very friendly and willing to help in any way possible.  Although I am a female, all of the staff bent over backwards to help with everything from financing to lowering my bike so that I am able to ride comfortably.  I traveled 112 miles from Harrisburg, PA to buy my bike at Mikes because no dealer in my area could get me approved.  Their prices are slightly higher than MSRP, but if you catch them on a week when they are having a sale, the prices aren't a whole lot more.  I noticed if you have a trade in, they give you a lot more than MSRP dealers do.  Clothes, parts and accessories are no more than any other dealer.  While you're there visit the museum and on site cafe.  If you have problems getting credit call Mike's, they will help in any way they can." - DF 02/02

"I bought my '02 883 hugger their and then traded it in for an '02 heritage.  Not only did I get all my money back on the sporty, that saved me thousands  compared to all those so called MSRP dealers.  The MSRP stores also told me it would take nine months minimum for the heritage.  Mike's only took two minutes. Also, the customer service is second to none especially after the sale.  I have received thank you letters, follow up calls, a birthday present and a commemorative calendar marking the occasion of the purchase.  All my purchases will be at Mike's guaranteed.  The staff, the ambiance and the chili are second to none." - CW 03/02

"The V-Rod on the floor at Mike's doesn't have a price tag, but a salesman told me I'd have to get up off $34,000 to ride it away. MSRP = $17,000 +/-. Mike's give Stealership a whole new meaning." - RE 03/02

"I bought my first Harley, a used 2000 FLHTPI police bike from these folks in the spring of 2002. They worked with me on the price, which when I checked it with Kelley's Blue Book, was very fair in my opinion. They also gave me $200 in credit toward accessories, and were very helpful when I  looked at new two-up saddles, going so far as to remove saddles from other bikes so my wife could try them out before buying. While we waited for paperwork to be completed, they provided free lunch in their on-site diner. On top of that, they delivered the bike for free to CT the following week. When I noticed one of the pipes had a ding in it, they even mailed a replacement. Top notch mega dealership in my opinion. Worth a visit." - AB 05/03

"All I can say is that the old adage:  If it looks too good to be true then it probably is...Is NOT always true, especially in this case.  I picked  up my new ride on Halloween.  The purchase process took about six months.  Through it all Mike's ranked a solid 10 out of 10 in every category.  I left there with an immaculate new bike, t-shirts, key chains, pins, stickers and an all around great feeling. This is my second Harley.  Of all the dealerships that I've dealt with, and there's been more than one or two, MIKE's is the most honest, professional and customer friendly dealership that I've encountered yet.  I couldn't have gotten a better deal, and it couldn't have been any easier.  No pressure to trade-in.  No pressure to finance.  No pressure to purchase extended warranties or service.  No pressure to purchase additional accessories.  Outstanding customer attention to every detail of the process with lightning fast responses to even the most trivial inquiries.  I'd like to thank the Police Fleet Sales Mngr, and the entire staff at Mike's Famous for a great experience." - JC 11/03

"I was reluctantly recommended by 3 close friends and my father who all have bought bikes here and had to play the "car salesman" game with the price of the bikes. I live over 100 miles away so I called first to see if they had the model I wanted in stock and was told yes they had 2 in stock. Once I arrive, the salesman can only find one and it's on hold for someone (since June 5th and I called and went there on June 9th). During this time the salesman comments that the most updated inventory sheet is dated June 3rd, and added that they sold 39 units over the June 5/6 weekend celebration. After searching the showroom for approx. 30-45 minutes we sit down to talk about trade and price. The salesman and sales manager took approx 30 mins. to look at my trade and then start to talk price and trade value. Then the OFFER/COUNTER OFFER game began. Well after about an hour of this game the salesman then comes out and now decides to inform me that they do not have the other bike that he just gave me a price on and if I wanted another model. The management's unprofessional manner of keeping inventory updated is unacceptable. HONESTY is the best policy and had they been honest from the beginning I would gladly wait and purchase from them, but not now.  I have dealt with several other H-D dealers for my prior bikes and never got this kind of "BAIT AND SWITCH" game played on me. I will never purchase anything from Mike's Famous, and I will make it a point to tell everyone I know not to waste their time going to Mike's Famous." - PB 06/04

"I went to Mikes Famous Stealership last weekend and EVERY new motorcycle was $5000 over MSRP and the used bikes were just as bad. This place still RAPES bike buyers, STAY AWAY!" - RM 04/05

"This is one of those enormous dealerships with a restaurant and ten thousand t-shirts. Checked them out as part of my shopping around for a VRSCA and was pretty well flabbergasted by the asking prices, $3K-$5K over MSRP on average. The sales guys were like sharks - eight or nine of them hanging around, and one pounced on me every time I paused by a bike. Way too much like going to a car dealership. The do, however, offer a nice National HOG discount. Stop by for the Cincinnati chili and a t-shirt, but don't seriously look at buying a bike from them." - AB 12/05

"According to well known motorcycle publication, this dealer sells new Harleys at or near MSRP"

"I bought my first Harley there,  an '01 Sportster 883.  They were easy to work with and patient in dealing with me stressing over EVERY last detail.  Usually, when I buy a cage, I'm willing to give up $500 to the dealership over MSRP and that's it.  BECAUSE it was a Harley, and BECAUSE I wanted a good one the first time, I was prepared to flex this number.  They could've cleaned me out (but not too well, I knew my costs) but we scratched and fought out a deal, leaving them $550 to the good over MSRP and me with one new Harley.  And for whatever it's worth, the bike had just hit pavement at the dealership that morning - no waiting list, no fuss, no muss.  Right place, right time.  Kudos to this place." - AL 5/01

"Bought my first Harley there.  Great experience.  Paid within $500 of MSRP and got a bike within a month or so of my first phone call to them --- would have had to wait at least 6 months at every other dealership in the area.  Everything about the sales experience was just what you would want.  I'll definitely buy my next bike there, even though it's two hours further from my house than several other dealers." - VP 6/01

""The dealership sells at MSRP, but unless you kiss their butt they won't sell to you.  A friend waited 6 years to get his bike (yes, 6 years).  They will sell to whoever has the cash, out of state or not. I live 15 minutes away and haven't spent a dollar there in over 3 years.  They have refused to perform warranty work there to friends who bought their bike elsewhere.  A friend had to write to Milwaukee to get the dealership to do warranty work correctly. Very clique-ish.  I hate this dealership." - JS 12/01
