"I bought a windshield for my Sporty there back in
January. The parts department were very courteous and competent. They were
more than happy to show me the different models of windshields and mounting
hardware accessories. I decided on the quick disconnect HD smoked Sport
windshield which they had on stock. They also had a decent variety of used
and new bikes on hand. A lot of Beulls and a couple of dressers too. Their
boutique was well equipped with a lot of t- shirts, leathers and other
apparel. They sponsor a Valentines day run each year for the locals also.
Good folks and good service." - MH 12/99 "I have always gotten the
best service out of Dothan HD/Buell. I purchased a bike there in 1999 and
they have always stood behind their product. They have bent over backwards
to help me when I needed it. Thanks Guys." - MN 02/01
"Salesman said he would sell me a Sportster at $1000 over MSRP." - AG

"These guys are a class act all the way. I got a great deal on a Dyna
Defender and they let me test ride with no obligation to purchase. The
salesman made it clear I want this to be the bike of your dreams so if it
is not after the test ride we will try something else. I would recommend
them to anybody that is looking to purchase and wants to be treated like
humans and them some. All the staff that I ran into was more than helpful
and a pleasure to be around and they seemed to enjoy being there too!" -
RB 04/02
"While traveling through Dothan, my stator fried. I know how busy
service departments can be just trying to keep up with the
regularly-scheduled maintenance work of their customers, much less some
guy that just pulls up to the service door, late on a Friday afternoon
with a sick bike. They rolled it right in, diagnosed the problem, and even
stayed late to fix it and get me back on the road. When it came time to
settle the tab, I asked "how much is it" and was prepared to hear "how
much you got?" but what they charged for labor and parts was MUCH lower
than I expected. I didn't feel gouged in any way." - GL 05/02
"H-D Dothan is by far, the fairest, most honest, and most reputable
dealership I have ever dealt with. In the 17 years I've ridden
motorcycles, I've never had a better experience. The owner and GM treat
you like family, the service and parts department are exceedingly
competent! From trading a cycle in, to finance, to delivery and beyond, HD
Dothan rocks! They are one of H-D's top 25 dealers in the nation, and it's
not hard to see why! Awesome, awesome dealership!!" - JR 06/02
"We have nothing negative to say about this dealership. My wife and I
bought our bike through Overseas Military Sales Corporation in the
Republic of Korea. The bike was picked up at H-D of Dothan ,AL. The sales
person was great answering our questions and filling out the paperwork
(and they make no money out of this deal). The wrench and the parts
department were also great answering my questions. I received a call from
them a few days later wanting to know if I was satisfied with their
service. This dealer provides great service to their community and the
Military community as well. " - EL 10/02
"I started riding Harley's as a young motorcycle officer in Miami way
back in 1973. After moving to Panama City, I began a relationship
with H-D of Dothan, 75 mi. to the north. After 13 bikes and a new
one on the way, I can only say the staff at this dealership is by far the
most professional in the southeast (I've been in them all). Any problem,
(and there have been a few), has been resolved to my satisfaction.
This dealership is in business to satisfy the customer. I recommend
you stop by and check the operation out." - ES 02/03
"On April 30th, some friends and I were riding from NE GA to Panama
City, Florida's Bike Week. Making a long story short, my bike quit
running. Thanks to some fellow HD rider's from Newnan, Ga., they trailered
my bike to the HD dealer in Dothan, AL. With thoughts of a ruined
trip going through my mind, I waited for them to find the problem. It was
a simple fix, although I had to have a new battery to replace the almost 2
year old one that was in my Harley. Total cost was under $135.00. If
you're gonna break down in Alabama, hopefully it'll be close to the dealer
in Dothan. Thanks guys, for treating an out of town guy like a brother. "
- JH 05/03
"By far the friendliest, most helpful staff of any dealership anywhere.
Had a bike delivered there that I bought through Overseas Military Sales
so the dealer wasn't making a profit off the purchase yet they still
treated me like their most important customer." - KB 11/03 "Called in to find out the availability of 4 parts and get total estimate
for cost. Was told by the parts manager that he was in the middle of a
huge order w/ someone else and my 4 parts weren't worth his time to look
up compared to the order on which he was working. Kinda shocked me since
there are usually 2-3 other guys working on the parts counter. Guess
since I ride an evo and do my own maintenance I'm not going to give them
enough money. Disgusts me every time I go in to get OEM mechanical parts
that the local chopper shops don't have, especially when I need them NOW."

"Was 4k over MSRP on 02 Heritage Classic. Don't bother
taking a trade-in or you'll be insulted at the offer." - LB 8/01 "Traded
for an 02 Heritage. Got a fair price for trade-in but price of new bike was
over MSRP, but the Sales and Admin Staff will work with you until you've
reached a fair and manageable price. Service MGR is very knowledgeable and
helpful along with the Technicians. Just can't say enough about the Staff
and the turn around this place has made in the last 4 yrs I've been going
there. I will be a regular customer." - LB 11/01 "Twice in the last
year I tried to buy a used heritage and a used road king from this dealer.
they were very high on their prices and wouldn't budge a penny. I
tried to trade a 96 Lowrider for a 98 road king. they asked $6000
difference. I told them I just couldn't do that. I went to
Rider's H-D in Birmingham and bought a brand new road king for less than
$6000 difference and now get 10% discount on parts too." - SH 03/02
"These guys are crazy, they mark up the prices so much on the bikes.
And then they add a bunch of accessories and then make the customer pay for
it. I live in this area and this is the only dealership around.
I ended up going to Atlanta to buy the Harley, I would like to keep the
money in the state, but not if the price is $3K more than Atlanta. The
salespeople are not very helpful, I guess they are not used to selling too
many bikes. I saw a lot of new bikes on the floor. None of them
were being sold. They are too expensive!" - PC 04/03 "This is the
most unfriendly dealership I have ever been in, I am there to spend my hard
earned money and no one even says hello to you or even asks if they can help
you. I would like to spend my money and keep it within the state but these
guys are really sorry. Right from the sales department to the parts and
accessories dept. They act like They are doing you a favor when you talk to
them. I worked for Harley Davidson before and I never treated anyone with
disrespect or ignored them when they entered the store. This dealership
really needs a class on customer service and how to gain respect of the
community. I think they are there to take everyone to the cleaners and do
not care about the future. Maybe the new owners will make a change." - PC
04/03
"This dealership is something else, I went there today to buy some motor
clothes from their big 50 % off sale. No one in that dealership even says
hello or talks to you except when you check out and than they give you smart
ass answers. Example, can you remove this security tag so I can try this
item on (Security tag had nail sticking through) Answer from sales clerk, If
I feel like it maybe, well what is up here did she have a bad night? or dose
not want to make a sale? The real problem here is this dealership has a
bunch of lazy people that work there. Maybe they do not pay them enough or
something. I am the customer and I deserve to be treated with respect when I
am in that store at all times. This is not the first time this has happened.
They the employees and management need to shape up or ship out." - IM 04/03
"Recently went in and bought a new V-Rod. Couldn't have gotten a
better price anywhere-MSRP-with a custom numbered paint job! The sales
people bent over backwards to help me. Overall, just a great
experience! " - JA 05/03
"Rocket H-D is under new ownership now and it is a fun place to shop again.
Still too pricey, but at least they acknowledge your presence now. I still
plan on buying from Dothan's Dealership in August/September." - DW 06/03
"I was hoping that under new ownership this place would get reasonable on
their prices. This past week I was there and they had an '03 Wide Glide on
the floor. Silver and Black. It had a few chrome pieces on it but was not a
stand out in any crowd. They had a Base Price sticker on it of 21K plus.
Somewhere around 21,500. Don't know how they arrive at that. Then with the
accessories they added the total was around 26 thousand. For a Wide Glide!
Other prices were similar except for the V-Rods they were trying to give
away. Used prices were out of sight as well. Maybe they just want to market
to the RUBS in Huntsville. They want $400. for a 10K service. I asked the
owner why so much, he said that they do just exactly what HD recommends,
stuff like pack the wheel bearings that other shops don't. I walked away
from that since we all know they are sealed now. Maybe he thought my '02
Heritage sitting there was a shovel." - BP 09/03
"This dealership is really something else, all the prices are out of this
world and they never have any thing on sale. That is ok, because several of
my fellow bikers have learned to save the money for Cool Springs, they have
excellent sales on all of the goods in their store to include the service
department. How about a big bore kit installed for just 399.00 and not to
mention the sales inside the store for the past year always 20 to 25 percent
off. Rocket Harley Davidson needs to get on track and start taking care of
the locals. I hate to spend my money out of state but you can not help it,
when you local dealer is out to take your pants off. As for bike sales form
Rocket H-D! Motorcycles are priced so high many people can not afford to buy
local and must go out of state to get a good price. This includes myself, I
have purchased five new Harley's in the past ten years and they were all
purchased out of State. What a loss of revenue to Huntsville and Madison
County. Some one really needs to wake this GUY and get him onboard with a
new show, he really looks like the old owners but a hell of a lot greedier."
- JC 10/03
"I traded a 2002 Heritage for a 2004 UItra Classic, and I must say that
after a few days of haggling I ended up with what I consider a fair deal,
competitive with what any other dealer on the net will offer on a deal with
a trade-in. The dealer's initial quote was way high, but turned out to be
flexible and the salesman was willing to work with me. However, do not
expect to find any bargains at this store. I think the service department
has also improved under the new ownership." - FC 02/04
"My husband expressed an interest in trading for an Electra-Glide that he
saw at Rocket Harley. The sales lady told us it was fuel injected but when
we went to look at it, it turned out to be carburetor. No big deal, we were
still willing to see how they would trade on our '02 Heritage fuel injected
with $2700 in documented accessories. This was a bone stock E-Glide Classic
that they wanted $3500 over MSRP. They asked $5000 and the Heritage for it!!
What? Are you kidding? Last Saturday a friend that I worked with picked up a
Road King Classic, FI and Security, for $19100, out the door, at Foster's
H-D in Tuscumbia, Al. They are only 75 miles away. He did order it and had
to wait until it come in but got it at a fair price. Rocket only wants to
break it off in whoever they can." - VR 03/04 "Bought an '04 Fatboy, used, had to pay nearly new MSRP.
First Harley, my mistake. Got all the paperwork done, fixing to ride off
into the sunset, my "Injected" bike had a carb. Offered me $150.00 to settle
for carb. Bought an '06 Road Glide, damaged front fender, had to wait 1
month to get the new one. Was told by the salesman that my new scoot had XM
radio, just call and have it activated. Guess what, no XM. Have no
experience with service, parts guys are great. Will purchase elsewhere next
time." - WN 11/05 |

"Used to load up bikes with chrome, but seems to have stopped that.
Quoted $17400 to $18000 for 2000 Road King (depends on color).
Good wrenches and knowledgeable counter people. Over all good attitude.
Don't know about HOG discount." - AN 10/99
"Lots of new bikes on the floor and a quick check of the price list
tells why! One bone stock Softail Standard at $3,000 above MSRP with
other bikes at the same markup, but loaded up with accessories at list
price plus flat rate shop charges to install each item. You can
easily pay $1,000's in labor for setup of that new bike with chrome that
you couldn't even pick out yourself! Want different accessories -
they will swap some of it out (but not all) and watch the setup charges
escalate. Sometimes you pay a little extra for customer service; but the
customer service here warrants rebates to the customer. (Maybe
they are nicer to the prospective RUB that has $40,000 cash in his pocket
to turn him into a BIKER.) Several local bikers were most helpful to
recommend H-D shops in adjoining states. Mobile Bay H-D is
definitely a STEALER." - EZ 3/01
"I just wanted to say what a wonderful job Mobile Bay H-D/Buell has
done on my bike. These guys have been extremely helpful and I can't say
enough about them. Keep up the good work." - MN 5/01
"I had some warranty work done by these guys. I did not buy the bike
there and they were like bending over backwards to get me to bring it to
them. They restored my faith in customer service by an HD dealer. The work
that was done did fix the problem too, no go back here .If the rest of the
store operates like the service dept does they will be the biggest in a
few short years no doubt about it !!!! I truly felt like a customer. All
the the guys there were friendly prompt, good communication and a pleasure
to deal with. When talking to them by phone I even asked "Are you sure you
are a dealership?" This was a very pleasurable experience for me with
them." - RB 05/02
"I bought a 2002 Deuce from these guys, and they made me feel
like I was the only customer they there dealing with. It made me feel that
customer appreciation was alive and well in this day and age of get the
money and run. They went over every thing on the bike and accessories I
had installed and made sure I was completely happy. Before I could leave
the store. There price was the best I could find. I paid roughly paid
$200.00 approve MSRP." - DD 07/02
"Best dealership I have ever visited. Traveled 250 miles to buy a
bike from these guys. Sell most bikes at MSRP plus a minor set-up.
Just bought a V-Rod from them for almost $2,000 Under MSRP. Was not
expecting the level of service I received from this place. I had
emailed them for a price quote to use in discussion with a local dealer.
The local dealer wouldn't even talk to me. When I drove down, I
expected them to "adjust" their quote some. Wrong, they didn't add a
penny. Best experience I have ever had." - JP 05/03

"This past year I went into the Montgomery HD to buy a
shirt while I was in town for business. The entire time I was there no one
ever spoke to me at all. I looked at the bikes that they had, and then I
looked at the clothes. After I had picked out a shirt I placed on the
counter and after the salesman had rung up the sale all he said was the
price. He never said anything else, no thank you, good day , kiss my rear or
nothing. I had a similar experience several ago when I tried to buy a
motorcycle there. Everyone was too busy to talk to a customer. I can
understand being busy at work but both times they were too busy talking
store gossip to help out." - MN 02/01 "Bought a new 02FLHR earlier this
year from out of state .took about 5 wks for bike to come in, was about 1500
over list, could not find any avail around Cincinnati area Thought I was
treated fair, considering no trade in, and them knowing I won't be back for
service or parts. Sales rep. and sales mgr were both respectful, serv mgr
was very patient, while asking tech questions, seemed to know the bikes very
well." - DH 08/02
"I live in the city... The customer service lacks the personnel touch they
will allow you to wander the store without saying Hello... The parts people
are helpful when you get to the counter... Just don't expect a warm welcome
but you can find the parts you need." - BC 01/03 "I went into the service
department to buy a new set of tires for my bike. When I came back to
pick up the bike I was excited about the new tires I did not inspect the
bike for any marks or scratches, just loaded it in the trailer and drove
off. I went to my next stop in town I was inspecting the bike then and
I noticed a 4-5 inch DEEP scrape on the rear exhaust pipe. Irritated I
called and asked the service department if the bike was dropped or scraped
he said he did not know. The next day I brought it back to them (still
on the trailer) and he laughed at me and told me that he would not fix it,
the mechanics laughed at me and one even called me a "little liar" they were
very rude and lost them a customer. The parts department is
excellent and I would recommend them any time but not the service
department." - MC 10/03 "I bought my first Harley from this dealer in the
spring of 2000. The price was higher than MSRP but certainly competitive
with other dealers. I've since bought 3 more bikes from them and as the
supply/demand equation smoothes out the prices have gotten closer and
closer to MSRP. The sales and service departments have always been very kind
and helpful; but what really stands out is their desire to do the right
thing by the customer. If a mistake has been made on their part or I'm not
satisfied with some aspect of their service, they ask what they can do to
make it right and then they do it...period. That attitude and the best
service technicians I've seen anywhere, especially the state of AL, keeps me
coming back time after time." - PH 10/03 "A few weeks ago I bought a new ultra classic. After
talking to a lot of dealerships, trying to get the best price I could on the
phone, with out driving a 1000 miles, I went to two of them. The first one
gave me a price, MSRP. + setup etc, and wanted me to leave my chrome goodies
on my trade in. Then I went to the Montgomery dealership .They did MSRP +
setup etc. They told me to take off all the stuff I wanted to keep and beat
the first deal by a $150.00 out the door! And they did a dealer transfer to
get the color I wanted. Not bad for a 60 mile drive. The sales staff are
great to deal with, Part's personal are A+. Motorclothes Ladies are very
sweet and helpful, fix you right up. The bike got to the dealership late
that afternoon they put two service guys on it to get it ready! great job
guys! I have never had a problem service dept. When I have a problem with
the bike, they treat me like the boss. This is my 3rd bike I have bought
from them. Thank's a lot Gang! -DC 12/05 |

"I bought my new 883C from Mt. Cheaha in March of 02. Everything was
great when I left the dealership. My problems didn't start until
after the 1K service. I developed an oil leak. Well, long
story short, after seven trips to the dealer they still couldn't fix it.
Finally, after the seventh trip, the general manager got a rep from the HD
factory involved. the factory rep called me and he said, "I
understand your bike has been in the shop a few times". I said, "how
about seven times!" He was floored. They worked on it again
and guess what...couldn't be fixed. The factory rep helped me find a
good dealer to work with. I ended up getting a great deal from
Montgomery HD on a brand new 03 1200C. Other problems with Mt.
Cheaha... the parts department. I talked to a guy about a sissy bar.
I told him I didn't think it was the right part for my upright. He
said, "no problem, try it out and if it doesn't work bring it back."
Well, guess what I live 2.5 hours away. Why don't you get off you
lazy butt and look it up in the P & A book. Overall, it's a sorry
excuse for a dealership. I would never use them for anything, ever!
I would drive 4 or 5 hours if necessary. Only a fool would use any
service Mt. Cheaha provides. Luckily, Montgomery HD is about 45
minutes away. The owner is really nice, the salesmen are sometimes
hard to get in touch with and/or hard to find. The motorclothes
department is really good and I have been pretty pleased with the service
dept." - JS 09/03 "I bought an '05 Dyna Superglide in Dec.'04. The salesman
and other employees I dealt with were courteous, knowledgeable and
professional in every way. I'm very happy with my purchase and personally
can recommend this dealership on my experience thus far." - SL 02/05
"Heart of Dixie, Rider's and Montgomery all had at least a two week wait for
service. Called Mt. Cheaha and they said, "When do you want to bring it in?
and we can even do it on Sunday." Their price was $20 cheaper than Heart of
Dixie. Nice people and no pressure to buy extra crap that I did not need.
They told me that they will stay late to get a traveling rider back on the
road." - MC 06/05 |

"Went in there last week (May 2004). They wanted $8595 for a basic XL883
black Sportster with spokes. That prevented me from seriously inquiring
about anything bigger. I felt like taking a bath after leaving." - WP
05/04 "They dealt right with me on my '05 Ultra
Classic. I did not leave feeling that I got screwed. This is the second bike
that I have bought from this dealership. But good luck trying to get a 1K
service done while you wait. They stay backed up at least two weeks and they
do not want you to wait on your bike." - MC 06/05 "Walked in from
staying at the motel next door. One of the salesmen came over and talked
about some of the bikes he had. I was looking at the Electra Glide classic
or standard. He quoted a price $1500 over the MSRP but he was nice enough to
say that the manager would "dicker" on the price if I had a large enough
down payment. needless to say I did not buy from there and will not buy from
there. also laid the t-shirt down I was going to buy." - RH 12/05 |

"I was put on the list in June of 99 and got a call one week later,
that they had the Road King Classic 99 that I wanted. $18,100 out
the door, 10% discount on clothes and accessories . I was treated very
nice then and every time I have been back." - BS 1/00
"I have my 92 FLHTCU in their shop for the Harley engine remanufacture
program. I chose them after talking to the local Huntsville dealer and not
getting a warm feeling at all about them. I visited Riders twice before
delivering my bike to them and was treated with friendly, informative
sales staff both times. Their service department has been easy to talk to
and if all turns out well (and I suspect that it will), I plan to continue
doing business with Riders." - TH 4/00
"On a previous note to your web site I said "Their service department
has been easy to talk to and if all turns out well (and I suspect that it
will), I plan to continue doing business with Riders". Well, Riders came
through even though the bill was a little higher than expected and I will
continue doing business with them. The higher than expected bill might
have been my fault though. I left the hack attached to the bike because I
did not want to re-align everything and it cost me extra labor. Overall,
I'm very happy with Riders and the H-D engine remanufacture program and
I'd recommend Riders to anyone who needs service performed on their ride.
I'd also recommend the H-D remanufacture program to anyone who needs major
engine work and is not interested in major engine mods, but make sure that
you go through a reputable dealer." - TH 5/00
"Just finished buying my first Harley; 2000 Road King Classic. Walked
in a week ago and asked if they had one, after determining I was a serious
local they showed me a bike fresh off the truck. From that time, until I
rode it out this afternoon, they have been a pleasure to deal with. This
was the first shop I visited where the folks were genuinely pleasant and
seemed to really want to put me on a bike; all the Atlanta and Nashville
dealers were extremely arrogant and made me practically beg for
information. As for pricing, HDs are in higher demand than the supply can
satisfy and this is a capitalist society, it was over MSRP (whatever that
really is). But even so, it was much below the quotes I had received
around the region. My fully loaded cost (bike, tax, title, etc) was
SIGNIFICANTLY lower than any other bike only quote I had received; it even
beat used bike quotes! I support capitalism, so I won't complain too much
about pricing issues! Riders seems to use a FCFS strategy, has a full
service shop, supports a local HOG. chapter (free first year membership
with bike purchase), 10% discount to local HOG. members, 10% discount on
accessories bought at time of bike purchase. Based on discussions with
other owners who have a history with this shop, I expect a long and
enjoyable relationship." - MV 5/00
"All 3 of his stealerships sell for $2500-$4500 over list.
Manager at Birmingham store would not repair my defective cam bearing,
even though bike was, and still is under warranty." - MB 04/02
"Bought a 883 for slightly over MSRP. Great folks, held the bike for me
and took care of everything. When I got there all I had to do was sign and
drive. Couldn't get Rocket City or Fosters to come off their $2,500 to
$3,000 over MSRP. Was about 100 miles out of my way to get there but well
worth it." - DK 06/02
"This has got to be one of the worst sales facilities in the US.
Being local, I have been to the dealership 3 times looking at bikes.
Couldn't get anyone to talk to me the first 2 times. The third time,
they said they had Sportsters and V-Rods. ($2,000 over MSRP)
Had no interest in selling anything else. Had to go out of town to find a
bike at a decent price. The service department has been great
though." - JP 05/03 "Can not get warranty repairs performed, have been lied to, general slimy
place to conduct business. Service people are good but are hamstringed by
management. Will not visit again after my bike is returned. I hope the
owner calls me as I have left him several messages to do so." - CC 09/05 |
FOSTER H-D
Tuscumbia, AL
|
"I bought my FLHR in mid 1999 from them. I checked
around Alabama to find the best pricing and delivery time. Myers in
Montgomery was at MSRP with a long wait. Fosters sold me my bike at
$350 over list and a five month wait. They are a small shop that has
an excellent service dept. Can't say about the HOG discount but I live sixty
miles away in Huntsville and drive to Sheffield when I need anything." - BP
1/00 "After previous bad experience with Rocket Harley Davidson, I have
taken all of my business to Fosters. When you come to their store the people
as very friendly and they treat you respect. I really like the service
department, you pay a fair price and get quality work. Not to mention their
service prices are 60 percent less than most other dealers in the area. I
should have gone there long ago but Rocket Harley was local and easy to use.
Thanks to May Foster and your service department for the excellent customer
service." - PC 06/03 |
